Job Description

IT Manager. £55k + Benefits Package. Hybrid Working - Onsite in Term Time & Home Working during School Closure. Permanent. Richmond, Surrey. T6/MN/18167. Leading academic establishment is seeking to secure an experienced IT Manager. The IT Manager is a pivotal role that will play a crucial part in the delivery of new IT systems, a new site build, leading a small IT Support team, and advising on the IT Strategy& Vision. Role:

  • Responsible for all areas of support - 1st, 2nd, 3rd line support, MSP & Suppliers.
  • Leadership, Management & Training - Line manage the IT Support Team - 3 Engineers.
  • Management of all aspects of both the Primary & Senior schools computer network infrastructures & connected devices, and end user support to students & staff.
  • Project Management - project manage the transition of IT Support to a new site - manage external contractors for a new site IT implementation - provide advice & input into the design and implementation of the new sites network.
  • Project manage the change in domain name.
  • Key member of the IT Strategy Committee - providing project updates.
  • Customer focused IT support approach & delivery - ensure high availability of secure IT Systems & Services.
  • Managing & controlling all technical aspects of - Installation, Configuration, Operation, Maintenance, IT Hardware, Software & Network Infrastructure across two sites.
  • Develop and manage systems to monitor the network 24/7 - respond to system outages in a timely manner - minimize downtime for users.
  • Manage Network risks - ensure there is effective backup & disaster recovery strategy.
  • Develop & implement an effective System Security strategy.
  • Ensure IT activities are in line with policies, safety standards & software licensing.
  • The IT Service Desk is managed effectively.
  • Liaise and build rapport with teaching & support staff to gain an understanding of the needs and requirements in a Primary & Secondary school environment.
  • Third Party Suppliers - Source and manage third-party IT suppliers & MSPs.
  • Budgets & Documentation - Produce and manage the IT Capital & Operations budgets.
  • Sourcing IT Resources - ensuring the best value for money.
  • Digital Strategy - Contribute to the Digital Strategy, work closely with the Director of Digital Learning.
Technical Skills - Experience Required:
  • IT Manager - demonstrable experience - held the position of IT Manager.
  • IT Project Management experience - Project planning, tracking & reporting - ability to scope, create and meet project deliverables & milestones - able to manage multiple tasks and projects in parallel.
  • New Infrastructure IT build experience - design, implementation and documentation of a new network.
  • Experience of migrating Systems Domains.
  • Knowledge of MS Cloud Services - Windows (client & server).
  • IT Systems, Networking & Software - solid understanding.
  • M365 Suite & Tenants.
  • Cloud - O365, Azure or Google Suite.
  • Mobile Device ManagementInTune.
  • Networking, Wireless, Telephones, CCTV & Digital Signage.
  • Implementing VoIP.
  • Windows Server 2016 experience.
  • Managing multiple sites.
  • Leadership - experience of leading a small IT Support team.
  • Third-Party IT Suppliers - sourcing & managing the delivery of external IT Suppliers & MSPs.
  • IT Budget - managing an IT Support budget.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Management - effective communication skills - managing senior business stakeholders.
Desirable:
  • Prince2, PMP - project management certification.
  • CCNA/CCNP or HP Aruba equivalent qualifications.
  • Cloud Certifications e.g., O365, Azure & InTune.
