Job Description

A leading cloud based software company currently requires a Test Automation Engineer to join them on a permanent basis. This can either be in their Reigate or Manchester offices with only 1 day per week expected to be in the office. The Test Automation Engineerrole is designed to fill the gap between a QA Engineer and Software Engineer. The individual who fills this role will have the duty to develop tools and methods for testing in a scripted and automated manner. The focus for a Test Automation Engineer is onautomation of test procedures, but testing should not be limited to Automation, with a capacity for manual testing where necessary.Key Responsibilities

  • Creation and maintenance of Automated test frameworks for the products architecture
  • Assisting the development of product code via pair development and/or reviews
  • Assist the Test Manager to create test run reporting assets to aid the SDLC
  • Setting up the infrastructure to run tests and maintain test environments
  • Utilise a risk-based approach to development of tools and scripts
  • When required, executing some manual test cases
  • Contribution to Process Improvements across the Engineering department, not limited to Test Quality
  • Creation and roll-out of new or updated Engineering-wide Quality Strategy guidelines and procedures
  • Provide support to all levels of the business where required
  • Review requirements, specifications, user documentation, help files, and other project documentation to assure quality of the products and tests to be developed; i.e., perform manual static testing.
  • Select and develop appropriate test automation tools, applying the latest techniques in test automation; e.g., data-driven testing.
  • Use risk-driven techniques to develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites for various Software Cafeteria products; i.e., perform automated dynamic testing.
  • Work with the Development team to capture and reuse automated Unit Test Cases, Test Stubs and Drivers, and other Development test objects.
  • Participate in the Change Control Board to identify the quality implications of known bugs and the impact of proposed changes to product definition on the testing process.
  • Work with the Engineering team to create and maintain an automated nightly build verification ("smoke") test.
  • Assist the Test Manager in the creation of test project status reports and metrics (e.g., Test Dashboard).
Requirements
  • 2+ years experience working in a Test Automation or equivalent role
  • 1+ year hands on experience with API test tools such as Postman to create automation suites
  • 1+ year experience with front-end test tools such as Selenium or Cypress
  • Proficiency in at least 1 programming language
  • Experience working in an Agile team
  • Good communication skills
  • Propensity to problem solve
  • Experience with automated testing techniques and tools
  • Familiarity with build pipelines and test integration
  • Knowledge of Behaviour Driven Development
  • Used cloud-based services preferred AWS as part of the SDLC
  • Experience with Security and Performance testing techniques and tools
  • Worked with tools such as Loadrunner or jMeter
  • Worked with tools such as Zap
  • Knowledge of contact centre, marketing tech and SaaS
