Job Description

IT Support EngineerThis well established, successful travel company are looking for an IT Support Engineer to be part of a busy IT operations team supporting head office, retail and remote workers across the UK.IT Support Engineer - Role & Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st level technical support for a range of IT incidents and requests for assistance.
  • Handle enquiries by phone, Teams, and portal.
  • Monitor Helpdesk queries and provide technical support as required.
  • Take ownership of each issue, ensuring a satisfactory outcome.
  • Provide an efficient, helpful service adhering to service management guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure environment problems.
  • Escalate issues, engaging relevant support teams as appropriate.
  • Update and produce support documentation to assist team members with information.
  • Liaise with 3rd party suppliers where issues cannot be solved in house.
  • Supporting file server, printer, back up, thin client, Microsoft server, AWS environments, Corporate Anti=Virus and monitoring solutions and other ad hoc as required.
  • Adhere to corporate cyber security requirements.
IT Support Engineer - Skills & Experience Required:
  • Extensive working knowledge of Windows system set up including Windows Server 2012 (R2), 2016 & 2019
  • Thorough understanding of Windows Active Directory
  • System monitoring tools (OP)
  • Server networking setup & system security
  • Experience with virtual environments (VMWare, HyperV)
  • Intermediate IP Networking skills (tcp/ip, snmp, smtp, ftp, ssh, nfs, iscsi)
  • SAN/NAS experience (Lenovo Storewise, Synology, QNAP)
  • Comprehensive hardware skills from server installation and configuration (HP, Lenovo)
  • Sound understanding of ITIL principles and assisting in the development and implementation of ITIL procedures
  • Technically minded with good problem resolution skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Dolphin, Tigerbay, Darwin & Travel Studio reservations systems would be an advantage.
  • Powershell scripting experience is desirable.
  • Citrix & remote desktop services experience would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of SQL (DBA skills) preferred but not essential.
  • Veeam & Zerto knowledge desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
IT Support Engineer - Additional Information:
  • Salary £27k to £30k dependent on experience.
  • Office based in Surrey (near Reigate).
  • Monday to Friday 9 to 5 (with occasional out of hours support as required).
  • 25 days annual leave
