Job Description

Summary Were looking for an Area Ranger to join our team at Reigate Hill.As part of the wider Surrey Hills Portfolio, youll work alongside many Ranger and Visitor Experience teams to deliver the portfolio targets and ambitions.Youll work with many important stakeholders from farm tenants to the local council, as well as other conservation organisations such as Butterfly Conservation and the Surrey Dormouse group.Click here for more information on this locationSalary: £25,662 - £27,300 per annum dependent on experienceInterviews: 6 December What its like to work here In addition to Reigate Hill, youll manage Gatton Park and Oxted Downs. These include downlands with rare butterflies, woodlands thriving with dormice and an ancient parkland with stunning veteran trees.Therell be plenty of opportunities to develop and increase your knowledge in habitats that might be new to you. Were happy to fill in training gaps for the right candidate. What youll be doing

  • Deliver Countryside Stewardship agreements for priority habitats
  • Create an ambitious habitat management work programme
  • Shape and deliver the work programme with your volunteer team, contractors and grazier
  • Lead on infrastructure management by identifying and implementing work plans for all aspects of physical countryside infrastructure and maintaining our extensive rights of way networks
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with colleagues, contractors, grazier, tenants and neighbouring land managers
  • Be responsible for keeping compliant to National Trust standards, including tree safety management.
Who were looking for Wed love to hear from you if you have:
  • Diploma/NVQ3 or higher in countryside or environmental conservation, or relevant practical experience of countryside/rural skills
  • Full UK Driving licence
  • Effective communication and people management skills (including volunteers and contractors)
  • Project management, presentation, and work programming skills
  • Proven track record of managing and leading on health and safety and environmental compliance
