Actuarial Pricing Analyst: Tesco Underwriting is currently recruiting for an Actuarial Pricing Analyst to join our Tactical Pricing team based in Reigate, near London. As an Actuarial Pricing Analyst you will be working with the wider Pricing Team, reporting to the Pricing Manager. The right person for the role will take ownership of tasks, deliver accurate statistical and financial analysis of the Tesco Underwriting Claims experience, with a commitment to meeting key deadlines and flexibility to deal with ad-hoc requests as required. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring Tesco Underwriting has market leading pricing capabilities by supporting research into new statistical techniques and market best practice to deliver more accurate predictive models of claims experience and business volumes, including the use of internal and external data.This role will suit a passionate individual looking to begin their actuarial/pricing career and looking to work towards a professional actuarial qualification. Your main duties and responsibilities as an Actuarial Pricing Analyst will include but are not limited to:You will support the Pricing Managers to deliver the key financial metrics within the financial forecast for profit and income through the delivery, management and oversight of the Home/Motor rating structure.Deliver accurate and relevant statistical modelling of Home/Motor claims experience, business volumes and price elasticity, utilising appropriate techniques including standard GLM analysis and more advanced machine learning techniques.To ensure that the work processes and models are adequately documented, validated and stored within a clear directory structure with complete version history.Effectively communicate the results of the modelling and rating structure development work to peers, senior management and external parties as appropriate.Support the successful implementation of pricing changes, as required.Passionate and accountable for your own personal development.Knowledge, Skills and Experience to be successful as an Actuarial Pricing Analyst are:Educated to degree level or other equivalent qualification and/or experience.A high degree of numeracy.Ability to think logically; evidence of good investigative and analytical skills.Ability to explain complex analysis in plain English, avoiding the use of jargon and acronyms and able to communicate the material financial implications of modelling and analysis decisions.Appropriately balance statistical accuracy with financial materiality.Confidently apply judgement where data may be sparse or insufficient in quality or where considerable uncertainty surrounds the range of potential outcomes.Knowledge of UK personal lines insurance market would be advantageous but not essential.Intellectually agile, able to think laterally and exercise sound judgment and decision making.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely through different mediums, including report writing.Proven ability to work as part of a team.At Tesco Underwriting we value our customers, but we also value you!Flexible annual bonus Enjoy 23 days holiday rising to 25 days (with the option to buy an additional 5 days each year).Personalised career plan giving you the ability to drive your own development including funding for nationally recognised qualifications.
