Job Description

Beaufort Financial is a nationwide partnership of IFAs offering sophisticated and transparent financial advice to private companies and individual clients. The firm also provides specialist mortgage advice via dedicated arm, Beaufort Mortgages.Beaufort Investment is a discretionary fund management firm with a 16 years track record and over £1billion in funds under management on behalf of private clients, trusts, charities and corporate bodies. We offer Active, Enhanced Passive, Ethical and Income Model Portfolios in addition to Growth and Balanced unitised Funds.We are recruiting for the key position of Chief Operating Officer. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the ideal candidate will have at least 10 years experience in financial services. Direct experience in asset management and financial advice firms is preferred.We are looking for an ambitious self-starter to help us implement our strategic growth plans. This pivotal role will have overall responsibility for the daily operations of the companies with a focus on commercials, resourcing and processes. The candidate will also need the requisite skills in compliance, finance, budgeting, modelling, IT infrastructure development and acquisitions.With various senior managers reporting to the COO, good management skills and communications will also be essential.General ResponsibilitiesMI / Commercials

  • The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO to help deliver the Groups business plan and growth strategy
  • Candidates will be expected to have experience at the top of the governing structure of previous firms
  • This role will require keen commercial acumen
    • Compliance
  • The successful candidate will need a good deal of experience of the compliance function as it applies to asset management and the financial advice proposition.
  • To manage and work closely with the Head of Risk & Compliance who holds SM16 and SM17
  • Responsible for ensuring day to day operation of each businesses compliance function and ensuring that we have adequate resources and fit for purpose policies and processes
  • Responsible for overall risk management in each firm
    • Finance
  • The successful candidate will need a good deal of experience of the finance function as it applies to asset management and the financial advice proposition. Experience of acquisitions is preferred.
  • To manage and work closely with the finance department (some internal and some external)
  • Responsible for ensuring day to day operation of each businesses finance function and ensuring that we have adequate resources and fit for purpose policies and processes
  • To work closely with the CEO to consider and onboard acquisitions
  • To work closely with the CEO for ongoing MI to committees and Boards
  • To work closely with the CEO in annual and ongoing budgeting
    • Operations / IT
  • The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of managing operations structures
  • To manage and work closely with all specialist teams to ensure we employ adequate resources (people and systems) in each one
  • To work closely with the CEO to consider and onboard acquisitions
  • Candidates will need a good understanding of the systems and software required to manage investment and advice based businesses
  • To manage the current IT infrastructure and work with the various teams and the CEO to drive the future direction for the firms
    • Investment
  • The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience and knowledge of investment as it applies to fund management and financial advice
  • To work closely with the investment personnel of each investment team with particular emphasis on their administration and operations functions
