* Material Buyer / Planner* Full time, permanent position* Circa £34,000 per annumMaterial Buyer / PlannerFull time, permanent positionCirca £34,000 per annum RedditchJob Summary: Our client is on the lookout for a Material Buyer/ Planner to join their business based in Redditch. The Material Buyer/Planner will be responsible for placing purchase orders, following up with suppliers, arranging the delivery of the product to their distributioncentre and providing support to management as required. Responsibilities: * Plans all purchased parts within responsibility area* Understanding of ERP/MRP Logic (SAP would be advantageous)* Work independently with suppliers to manage material supply to ensure on time deliveries.* Facilitates problem resolutions with Accounts Payable related to purchase orders/ invoicing and pricing.* Make decisions to release, firm, cancel, or defer work based upon current inventory, demand, and capacity.* Responsible for maintaining assigned materials to appropriate inventory levels to support Stocking Plan.* Review and implement supply chain solutions or alternative supply if possible for supply chain shortages of parts within an Aftermarket environment* Places and maintains purchase orders for purchased parts within responsibility area.* Works with suppliers to expedite or defer materials as dictated by changes in internal and external customer requirements and to meet Service and inventory objectives.* Maintains accurate purchase order information in the ERP system* Modifies order release due dates, quantities, and closes purchase orders, etc., based on planning demand.Key Competencies needed: * Proficient in Excel* Supporting and planning for European Distribution Centres* Knowledge of manufacturing, quality control, and planning processes.* Mainframe and personal computer experience a plus.* Must possess the ability to communicate orally and in writing.* In-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution).* Must possess skills to contribute to a team-oriented environment while leveraging lean methodologies.* Must be focused on achieving business goals through Key Performance Indicators* Must be able to influence internal/external suppliers to achieve fulfilment objectives.* Must possess a strong customer service orientation and must provide dedicated support of internal customer requirement
