Junior/Trainee Application ConsultantSalary: Up to £25,000Location: Bristol / Redditch / SheffieldRole Purpose of Junior Application ConsultantReporting to the Application Support Manager, you will be working as part of a small but dynamic team that provides support across the company in the development and maintenance of system applications. You will utilise your analytical skills in supporting businesscritical applications. You can tap into your creative side to assist with design solutions and feel the reward when you see your ideas come to life. There is excellent career development / progression opportunityin this role.Main Duties and Responsibilities of Junior Application Consultant Work with other members of the team to manage the team helpdesk system and resolve user-submitted problems and questions Undertake any tasks or projects that are necessary to achieve team and company objectives Extract key messages from complex data analysis and communicate these effectively Work with external contractors to implement new applications or new modules within existing applications Contribute towards the testing of updates, changes, bug fixes, new processes and new development releases Provide technical support and guidance on applications for end-point users Ensure quality delivery against agreed timescales and priorities Provide support and cover for other members of the team as required Ensure that change and security control procedures are followed Comply with all relevant policies and procedures work to ISO standards Support our company values Teamwork, Client Centric, Talent Driven and Intrapreneurial Resolve user-submitted problems and questions Comply with all relevant policies and procedures work to ISO standardsTechnical Knowledge and Professional QualificationsKey Skills of Junior Application Consultant Ability to analyse and interpret information, pre-empt and evaluate issues, and recommend appropriate course of action to address the issues Ability to envision and deliver solutions that meet user needs and/or solve business problems Ability to articulate and gain engagement for ideas for both technical and non-technical audiences Good problem-solving skills and proactive in researching solutions Excellent written and oral communications Team player, able to build relationships and work well in a team Self-starter who is motivated, able to work independently when required An understanding and appreciation of how technology supports business needs Keen to develop your technical skills plus your knowledge of trust-based pension management Determined, persistent and pro-active - wants to understand, analyse and improveEssential Skills of Junior Application Consultant Educated to degree level or equivalent (computer science or related subject would be preferable)Desirable Skills of Junior Application Consultant Advanced Excel skills and experience of writing, debugging complex macros in VBA Experience of coding using more than one recognised industry standard language (e.g. VB.Net, C#); understanding of object-orientated software engineering An understanding of relational databases, such as Microsoft SQL ServerOverarching Obligations of Junior Application Consultant Adhere to all relevant laws & regulations, and company Policies & Procedures Achieve a good standard of ethical behaviour, i.e. do the right thing at all times Comply with all relevant professional standards Comply with the FCAs requirements in relation to Conduct Risk & Treating Customers FairlyThe CompanyThe Group is a leading, independent provider of specialist pensions, trustee, and employee benefits solutions to small to medium enterprises and large corporates.At the heart of our business is a diverse team of specialist advisers, each with a unique knowledge base within their specific area.
