South Birmingham areaSalary £28 - 34kOur client is a well-established company in the FMCG / Household products sector; having both recognised high-street brands and strong partnerships with leading supermarkets to provide own-label products.Due to strong recent performance, their focus to provide performance-driven products at competitive price points and innovative New Product Development, they are now seeking to recruit a Development Chemist to join their NPD Team to work on a variety oflaundry and cleaning products.Role:As a skilled Development Chemist, you will be primarily responsible for new product development and cost effectiveness programs.Support the development of the NPD pipeline, making use of external bodies, suppliers etc. to leverage new technologies for potential business impact.Keep abreast of market developments, building insights and identifying opportunities for new formats.Manage own workload effectively ensuring activities are aligned with business timings and project budgets.Support project management activities as required (SDS preparation, back of pack declarations etc).Present to internal and external stakeholders on project milestones.Provide product briefings/ status updates to suppliers and 3rd parties, when required.Proficient at NPD record keeping.Candidate:Graduate, or above in Chemistry or related subject.At least 3 years of relevant industry experience working in a Product Development role within the FMCG / homecare sector and will show evidence of product delivery, innovation and effective time management.Experienced in the formulation, development and testing of laundry, household cleaning or related products.Knowledge of surfactant/polymer chemistry and possess the know-how to turn this into new products.Possess good practical and laboratory skills.The ability to develop relationships with colleagues, suppliers and customers is crucial as the role will require significant overlap with production, quality and commercial sides of the business.
