Job Title: Design Engineer - New Product DevelopmentLocation: RedditchSalary: 30-40KOverview:A reputable engineering company is actively seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join their New Product Development (NPD) team. In this role, the Design Engineer will collaborate closely with fellow design engineers, product managers, and production leadersto innovate and develop cutting-edge products. The company specialises in a diverse range of manufacturing processes and materials, including sheet metal, plastic mouldings, aluminium castings, and extrusions.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with commercial teams to generate new product concepts and ideas aligned with customer requirements.Employ creative problem-solving to deliver effective design solutions.Act as a project lead when necessary to ensure the timely completion of projects.Take responsibility for the creation and verification of drawings and supporting documentation.Work closely with purchasing teams and suppliers to obtain accurate part costings.Provide support to in-house production teams post-launch, addressing and resolving production issues.Collaborate with marketing to contribute to the development of promotional materials.Requirements:Degree or equivalent in a relevant Design or Engineering discipline.Minimum of 5 years of commercial experience.Proficiency in CAD, creating 3D models, and 2D manufacturing drawings.Sound understanding of basic mechanical/product design principles and the development process.Familiarity with 3D modelling, assemblies, rendering, and PDM software (experience with Inventor preferred).Broad knowledge of manufacturing materials and processes, particularly plastic mouldings, aluminium castings, and metal fabrication.Knowledge of the lighting industry is advantageous but not essential.Creative problem-solving approach with a pragmatic balance of cost and value.Familiarity with circular design principles and the circular economy is advantageous.This is a great opportunity for the right candidate, if you feel that this is you, please click Apply or call Ashley Robinson on 0152768585
