Job Description

Service Manager/Workshop ControllerWellingborough AreaHours - Monday to Friday full timeSalary - £40-50k DOEOur client is a leading provider of forklift solutions, specialisingin the sales, service, and maintenance of forklifts and related equipment. They pride themselves on delivering top-notch service and innovative solutions to our clients, helping them optimisetheirmaterial handling operations. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a dedicated and experienced Service Manager/Workshop Controllerto lead their service department and ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.Position Summary: The Service Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the service department. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customerservice. The Service Manager will lead a team of engineers and administrators, schedule and prioritiseservice requests, and ensure that all forklifts and related equipment are maintained and repaired efficiently and effectively.Key Responsibilities:Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of engineers
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment within the service department.
Service Operations:
  • Coordinate and schedule service requests and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure that all service orders are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of service activities, parts inventory, and equipment maintenance history.
Customer Service:
  • Interact with customers to understand their service needs and resolve any issues or concerns.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through effective communication and service excellence.
Technical Expertise:
  • Stay updated on the latest forklift technology and industry trends.
  • Assist engineers with complex technical issues and provide guidance on troubleshooting and repairs.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all service activities are carried out in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Conduct safety training for engineers as needed.
Inventory Management:
  • Manage parts inventory and order necessary supplies to support service operations.
  • Monitor and control expenses related to parts and supplies.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within the forklift or heavy equipment service industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of forklifts and related equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organisationalskills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.
  • Valid drivers license and the ability to travel as needed.
