Job Description

Howdens Joinery are looking for an Application Delivery Engineer to work within our busy Digital Solutions team based at eitherour Raunds, Northamptonshire or Croxley, Watford offices.This role offers a customer focused professional an excellent opportunity to be an integral part of helping us support our website and internal systems.Reporting to the Trade & Digital Application Delivery Manager, you will ensure the smooth operation and continuation of service of our core trade and digital applications ensuring any application issues are resolved as efficiently as possible.This ADE is a full-time and permanent position with a blend of home and office work.What will I be doing as an Application Delivery EngineerAs an Application Delivery Engineer, you will need to be service focussed, with the desire to deliver first class service to our colleagues and be dedicated to improving our processes through automation, innovation and continuous improvement. Your key taskswill be responding to production incidents, driving recovery and mitigation, and ensuring agreed levels of support are maintained and delivered to the Howden user community. You will also, where possible, address small change requests that can be completedwithin a short amount of time.Part of your role will also involve you taking an active part in the Program Increment (PI) Planning sessions as part of the Scalable Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology, providing regular updates on work during daily stand ups. This is the perfect opportunityfor an application support professional, who wants to expand their technical knowledge and looking for an opportunity to grow within a nurturing environment.Following government guidelines this role will be home based for the immediate future, however this will be reviewed as and when restrictions are updated.What we need from you:

  • Experience of working in a software development environment.
  • Skills or Knowledge of ASP.NET, JavaScript, Angular, C#
  • Strong understanding of website infrastructure (Web app servers, Caching services, Job servers, indexing, APIs / microservices)
  • Good understanding of ITSM system, Scrum and/or Kanban.
  • Experience with supporting content management systems, preferably Sitecore
  • Awareness of Source control: Azure DevOps / Git / Exposure to Pipelines (Azure)
  • Experience in at least one scripting language such as PowerShell, Python and JavaScript.
  • Experience of application performance monitoring tools and supporting deployed systems, using tools such as AppDynamics.
  • Experience of Scalable Agile Framework (SAFe) v4.5 or greater an advantage.
  • Recognised qualifications i.e. MCSE Certification would be an advantage.
  • Experience in the Retail/Trade Digital Sector an advantage.
