Job Description

Halliwell Homes are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our team based in Edenfield. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis during term time and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £18,250 - £20,250 per annum.Who are HalliwellHalliwell Homes is a social enterprise offering clinically informed practice. Our objective is to improve the psychological health and wellbeing of looked-after children.Halliwell operates the Restorative Parenting Programme which focuses on therapeutically addressing the emotional, behavioural, social, and developmental needs of children in our care. Our Restorative Parenting approach sets us apart from standard residential childcare providers in that it is clinically informed in every aspect of the child’s lived therapeutic experience with the aim of helping traumatised children achieve recovery and psychological wellbeing. You will support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.What you will be responsible for as our Teaching Assistant:- Providing support for Pupils by attending to pupils’ personal needs and implementing related personal programmes- Working in close partnership with onsite residential children’s home, Therapeutic Parents and other Halliwell staff members- Supervising and supporting pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning, establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs- Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils, encouraging pupils to interact with others and engage in activities as directed by the teacher- Encouraging pupils to be actively involved in and fully participate in activities such as PE that aim to stimulate and encourage movement skills and encourage them to act as independently as appropriate- Providing support for the Teachers by preparing classrooms and cleaning the school as directed for lessons, clearing afterwards and assisting with the display of pupils’ work- Being aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and reporting to the teacher as agreed and undertaking pupil record keeping as requested, maintaining records of the pupils’ work and progress- Providing support to the pupils in all areas of the curriculum, under the direction of the Lead TeacherSkills and experience required by our Teaching Assistant:- Good standard of English, Maths and ICT- Experience working with challenging behaviours or individual persons in an education setting- Evidence of working with or caring for children with learning difficulties and/or behavioural and emotional needs- Experience in maintaining paperwork/records objectively, non-stigmatising and with good attention to detail and accuracyIf you feel you have the skills and experience to join our team as a Teaching Assistant please click ‘Apply’ now!Halliwell is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
