Job Description

Plant Maintenance Technician, Mechanical or Electrical bias, Cardiff, £35,000pa plus benefits:MARS Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a world leading specialist manufacturer who provide innovative solutions to the global Life-Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Power, Electronics industries. Enjoying a sustained period of growth, theirnew state of the art facility near Cardiff is looking to recruit two Maintenance Technicians to work on a 4 on, 4 off shift rota, 6am-6pm. These Maintenance Technician roles are mechanical focused, but ideally you will have some electrical knowledge. Thisis an amazing opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to work in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and for a business which is rapidly expanding within their industry sector.The Role:On a day to day basis you will ensure the continued running of the Manufacturing Facility for all mechanical equipment. Working with Plant Electrical & Mechanical Engineer, as well as proactively, to carry out preventative maintenance, support service visits,calibration, reactive maintenance, inspections and other measures to ensure continued production with respect to mechanical & electrical equipment. Other duties:

  • Working safely on site and adhering to health and safety procedures for maintenance work.
  • Work with Process Engineers, Plant Electrical & Mechanical Engineer & other production/R&D staff on troubleshooting and improvement projects.
  • Ensure all maintenance (internal & contractors) work is carried out correctly, safely and recorded as per the procedures.
  • Assist in developing maintenance procedures and other Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental documentation as necessary.
  • Act as a key stakeholder in the facility and be available for remote support and call out.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by management of the company.
About you:The successful Maintenance Technician will ideally have experience of working in a chemical, food & beverage, or pharmaceutical environment in a maintenance capacity. You will be experienced of fault finding and hands on repair of primarily mechanical, systems,with the ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings. You will be able to follow complex work instructions and document completed work accurately. In is essential that you are HNC qualified in an engineering discipline or time servedapprenticeship with experience.The following are desirable experience and skills:
  • Experience working with flow, pressure, temperature, and level instrumentation.
  • Experience working with pneumatic and electrical control/automation
  • Experience of Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance in hazardous areas is desirable
  • 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations desirable
  • Familiar with DSEAR and ATEX zones desirable
