Artwork Team Leader - PackagingLocation: Newcastle upon TyneSalary: DOECompany: Global leading packaging and graphics agency.Role: As an Artwork Team Lead, you will be experienced in packaging artwork and print technologies. You will lead an artworker team by guiding and mentoring the artworkers to ensure the team completes all tasks to deadline, to the required standard and tobudget. This role will also require you to also be hands-on with artworking responsibilities, and therefore you will be used to and be able to hit deadlines within an extremely fast paced art studio, whilst providing international packaging artworks to thehighest standard.

• To manage an artwork mini team. To assist in recruiting new team members, be responsible for onboarding, training and developing, inspiring and motivating team members.
• Organise team, hold 1-2-1 meetings and be responsible for general day to day line management, ensuring there is adequate cover during absences.
• Continuously assess internal artwork procedures within your team and use them to make recommendations and changes for improved structure, efficiency, performance and output.
• Train and oversee the team to carry out all print checks to meet the required standards and assist hands-on with print checks whenever necessary.
• To provide advice on all print related matters and train all other members of the team to prepare files in a suitable format.
• Take part in artwork briefings for new builds and ensure that the team delivers on brief.
• Rearrange resources and workflow as appropriate to accommodate urgent priority jobs within mini team and assist department heads with wider workflow.
• Create and adapt packaging artworks correctly, efficiently and to meet all requirements of the brief.
• Create new packaging artworks including labels, boxes, sleeves, foils, tubes, lids and outer cases for various different print processes.
• Under own supervision create new files respecting the requirement for different print technologies.
• Prepare colour separated print data where required.
• Accountable for checking files for print readiness.
• To assist other members of the artwork department as required.
• To assist the Head of Artwork in artwork tasks and/or projects as deemed necessary.

Requirements:

• Experience of artwork management
• Experience creating technical packaging artwork and repro
• Extensive FMCG packaging experience.
• Experience of checking packaging artwork files for printability in a fast-paced environment is essential.
• Knowledge of packaging artwork and associated printing technologies. For example, from a background as a packaging/technical artworker or have Print Reproduction experience.
• Knowledge of colour separation, file set-up and supply using spot colour channels.
• Extensive knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Esko and GMG proofing experience
• Demonstrating an understanding of internal artwork procedures and standards, client artwork expectations, and the demands for executing a high turnover of artworks for a major retailer (thousands of SKUs per year).
• IT Savvy and a fast learner of IT systems and processes.
• Demonstration of precision and excellent attention to detail from photography, typography and file set up to follow the clients guidelines and requirements.
