Job Description

Shift: This is a days role where you will be required to work 40 hours per week Monday - Friday. We may however require an element of flexibility in order to meet the needs of the business as required.Salary: We are offering a very competitive salary for this role which is from £56,000 - £60,000 per annum and is dependent on previous experience.We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Manager to join our Engineering team at Ocados Customer Fulfilment Centre based in Purfleet, Essex. This state-of-the-art, automated Customer Fulfilment Centre is around 300,000 square feet and boasts world leading technology, that is predominantly developed in house at Ocado. At full capacity we will be fulfilling over 70,000 customer orders a week, which requires 24/7 operation and a dedicated Engineering team.The main purpose of this role is to coordinate and manage the maintenance team and ensure all Engineers and Technicians are working both effectively and safely.Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To Manage and maintain the stores and maintenance equipment inventory, to include lifting and access equipment
  • Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance plan using our internal computerised maintenance system
  • To increase productivity throughout the department whilst ensuring high standards are maintained throughout
  • Promote a continuous improvement working environment
  • To work with internal teams and departments to plan and prioritise maintenance windows
  • Assist with developing and enhancing training material for our Engineers and Technicians’
  • Create and manage an escalation process for dealing with any issues that arise to enable a first line response’
  • Develop and maintain processes for capturing all departmental KPI’s
  • Develop methods for root cause analysis and maintain the work centre for enabling quick servicing and repair
  • Manage all re-call’ activities for our robots and other MHE
  • Support our research and development team in new developments

  • Experience of managing or supervising a team of Engineers within a similar role
  • Experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance and knowledge of PLC’s
  • You must hold a formal Engineering qualification
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to meet demanding targets in a highly pressurised environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both internal and external customers
  • Confident in using IT and experience of using Microsoft packages and CMMS’s
  • Effective problem solver with a keen eye for detail
  • Expert analytical skills with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and cost saving initiatives
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload
  • You will be required to complete your training in your first 4-6 weeks in the role. This training will be held at our sites in either Andover and/or Erith to be completed Monday-Friday. What will I get in return
