External candidates may elect to transfer to GMP.Greater Manchester Police offers the most challenging, rewarding and a once in a career lifetime opportunity.An exciting opportunity has arisen within the People and Development Branch for a substantive Superintendent to join the Senior Leadership Team to oversee the portfolio of specialist operational training.This portfolio includes oversight for a team of officers and staff who are responsible for the delivery of: Personal Safety and Public Order Training Command Training Taser Training First Aid Training Driver and Dog Training JESIP / PLATO International trainingYou will work as part of the wider Senior Leadership team and be involved in a range of activities to deliver our ambitious branch plan supporting the Director of the People and Development to ensure we contribute in a meaningful way to deliver force prioritiesand our Plan on a Page initiatives.Successful candidates will be hardworking and a values-led leader. You will be passionate about working to improve policing performance through setting high standards and supporting officers and staff to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviour needed throughcore, operational and developmental training.It is essential that you are able to demonstrate evidence of: A critical lead role in operational policing for major or critical events or incidents Change management and the ability to deliver on projects Adherence to standards and the promotion of accountability and continuous improvement Lead, motivate, engage, manage and develop a team of policing professionals Lead and manage performance Fulfil operational requirement expected at the rank of Superintendent Develop, manage and maintain strategic relationships Manage Budgets Skilled at planning and objective setting Allocate and manage resources effectively Ability to use a range of communication and influencing techniques Ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and partners to enable effective collaboration Have a working knowledge and understanding of legislation and powers relating to the rank of Superintendent and commit to undertaking relevant CPD.Desirable Experience of managing training Worked as a trainer / qualified trainer and/or carried out a range of training activities Understanding of Quality Assurance Public Order Command accreditation (Silver/Bronze) Public order command experience Experience or working knowledge of the Force Contact Centre Experience in income generation Experience and knowledge of International PolicingTo find out more about the key responsibilities, please take a look at the role profile and attachments under the supporting documents below.Within your application, please provide a supporting statement outlining your skills, knowledge and experience and how you meet the essential and desirable criteria detailed above.
