Job Description

Support Worker Prestwich£10.69 p/h - £14.21 p/hTRC Healthcare are working with a Small Independent Specialist Mental Health Provider based in Prestwich. The client offers therapeutic community placements for young people and Young Adults with Complex Mental Health problems between the ages of 10 and25 years old. Theyre looking to recruit Support Workers to join their team who understand the young people and who can offer a holistic approach.Unsociable hours, waking nights, Saturdays and Sundays are paid at £14.21 and a £70 sleep in allowance.Brief overview of the role:

  • Work collaboratively and co-operatively with other employees, children, and their families.
  • To work with the Registered Manager so the home complies with current legislation
  • Follow the policies and procedures relating to the function of the home.
  • To support the work of the children in line with their therapeutic plans.
  • To work with the Registered Manager and peers to ensure the service requirements of the child and placing authority are met.
  • To work safely with the child through the care plan to encourage and deliver contact with their families as necessary.
  • To be responsible for the physical, social, and emotional well-being of the children.
  • To act as educational support when required.
  • To partake in and complete concise handovers.
  • To attend external meetings, such as lac Reviews, PEP meetings with a senior member of staff or the Registered Manager when necessary.
  • To maintain appropriate, effective, and ethical records and reporting is accurate as required for administrational purposes as set out in statute and company policy.
  • To work with and assist the Registered Manager to plan and control the household budget.
  • To ensure that all essential medication is safely administered, and that medication is secured and recorded
  • To create a homely environment in which children can identify and grow through a professional staff team
  • To comply with Ofsted Quality Standards.
  • To be actively involved in own personal and professional development, supervisions, and appraisals.
  • To liaise with and develop excellent working relationships with staff from other agencies, local authorities, and professions as necessary including the Police, Health Service and Education Department
  • To ensure personal knowledge and practical application of all working procedures as outlined by the Department of Health Guidelines
  • To have a thorough understanding of child protection procedures, to recognise issues regarding safeguarding and to respond appropriately to any concerns of child abuse.
  • To be able to support and assist the staff teams when there are shortfalls on the rota due to annual leave, sickness, and any absences.
  • To work in line with the standards in the Competency Framework.
Requirements
  • Be over the age of 21 at the time of application

  • Full driving licence and access to a motor vehicle for work purposes (Business insurance required)
Desirable
  • NVQ Level 3/Diploma Level 3Health and Social Care Children and Young People
  • At least 1 years experience with childrens residential care within the last 5 years
  • Awareness of child protection and child development
  • Knowledge of Child Care legislation and Ofsted NMS
