The two posts are replacement, whole time, Consultant Medical Microbiologists employed by St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (STHK). The two successful candidates will join a team of four WTE Consultants working across the two Trusts, St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust. The two posts shall be based at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust.The Pathology Directorate is within the Clinical Support Services Care Group and provides the services to STHK and Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals Trust (SOHT) as well as direct access.The Microbiology laboratory is located on a single site at Whiston Hospital.The Trust has excellent management, robust systems and innovative processes all of which have underpinned a period of sustained and improved performance.All applicants must possess FRCPath or equivalent, have training and broad experience in Microbiology including Virology and Infection Control.Applicants must be eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment.Applicants must have entry on the GMC Specialist Register via one of the following:1) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)(the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months if the interview)2) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)(CESR Candidates must have written GMC confirmation upon successful application)St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is the BEST acute Trusts in England for the THIRD year running!The Trust is currently the only acute Trust in Cheshire and Merseyside, and is one of few in the entire country, to achieve the title of OUTSTANDING, rated by the Care Quality Commission.We provide a full range of acute adult services to our local population of circa 350,000 and provide tertiary services across a much wider area in the North West, North Wales and Isle of Man.
