This important new role will be at the heart of the organisation in the UK CEOs office. The successful candidate will be a core part of the team bringing our sustainability vision to life and ensuring effective implementation of our Sustainability strategy.This will include supporting two sustainability managers with stakeholders engagement across our business to enhance and deliver our sustainability strategy to leverage and embed sustainability as a driver of business performance. What youll do:

  • Assists sustainability manager & Head of Business Management to support CLUK in the delivery of its vision and solutions
  • Assists in design and shape our sustainability data strategy & developing board/exec MI
  • Facilitates oversight and successful delivery of strategy through provision of timely & decision-useful MI
  • Supports the timely delivery of reporting through collation & analysis of data, metrics, supporting evidence, database management, for example IMMMR
  • Supports internal and external requests for information related to climate and ESG
  • Develops tactical solutions to ensure robust and timely delivery of assured data and improvements in quality
  • Ensures outward focus to our sustainability strategy by researching markets, competitors and macro events to benchmark our activities, commitments & reporting
  • Assisting two sustainability managers to support Canada Life UK in the delivery of its sustainability vision and solutions.
  • Supporting sustainability managers to design and shape our sustainability strategy and expedite the delivery of our responsible investment and sustainable operations ambitions, to include facilitating them in the administration of cross business workinggroups & delivery of key deliverables.
  • Ensuring we have an external and outward focus to our sustainability strategy by researching markets, competitors and macro events to benchmark our activities, commitments & reporting. This may involve working with external partners and supporting the sustainabilitymanagement team by summarising findings, identifying areas for development and continuous improvement, supporting ongoing research and assisting to develop recommendations to generate year-on-year improvement in our sustainability metrics and outcomes.
  • Partnering with sustainability managers, liaising and collaborating with cross functional stakeholders as required. To ensure we can implement our sustainability strategy across our business. This will be in an effort to understand our business and howwe can implement our sustainability strategy across our business.
  • Assisting with the preparation of public reporting including producing and updating activity trackers, organising data, organising meetings and identifying key issues for discussion to support the timely delivery of reporting.
  • Keep abreast of relevant sustainability regulations to assist the sustainability managers in their work to promote best practices to appropriate teams (including procurement, investment teams, people experience) and to identify opportunities for innovationand fostering knowledge sharing across Canada Life UK
  • Assist Sustainability Managers as required with sustainability duties including supporting with internal and external requests for support and producing and analysing data and MI related to sustainability as appropriate and required.
  • Preparing briefing notes, packs and papers and collating supporting materials to enable the sustainability managers to engage with internal partners and colleagues to ensure that our activities in responsible investment and sustainable operations are wellunderstood both internally and externally
What youll be accountable for:
  • Supporting public climate and sustainability reporting
  • Supporting a team of two Sustainability Managers with Sustainability
  • Assisting with the preparation of reporting for various Committees & Boards
  • Engaging with multiple functions across the UK division on sustainability matters
  • Working with Sustainability Managers to help set sustainability strategy and supporting with delivery of our responsible investment & sustainable operations ambitions
  • Keeping up to date with regulations related to sustainability and our obligations as a responsible business.
What youll bring to the role:
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability, either through a previous relevant experience working in a similar role or through training/education
  • Exposure to working in the Financial Services sector would be desirable
  • Strong influencing skills and experience of managing projects and initiatives with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to clearly define and communicate complex and evolving climate topics to a range of stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills / writing experience together with the ability to gather information and use it to draw sound conclusions and present strong arguments.
  • Ability to deliver work to a high standard under tight time pressure with attention to detail
  • Continuous drive & energy to get things done, look at ways to continuously improve ways of working and have an ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing demands
  • Strong and concise communication skills as role requires both verbal presentations and written reports.
