Job Summary Working within the creative team, this role is responsible for leading the copy function which supports the development of the brand tone of voice, developing compelling copywriting solutions for all customer groups and supporting the successful delivery ofthe marketing strategy and communications plan. The Senior Copywriter must be a strategically-minded, digital-savvy creative writer. This person will lead on campaign copy creative and experiment with new ways to engage and present our stories through different platforms. This role will be responsible for managing and approving created content in partnership with the business leads and marketing executives, to support the current and future needs of the business line/s. They will oversee the delivery of all copy, and will alsobe required to:

  • Discuss and understand business requirements, liaising with relevant stakeholders
  • Take ownership of briefs and provide great copy solutions
  • Understand and engage with target audience
  • Translate complex topics into simple, easy to understand information
  • Modify and edit copy, as required
  • Present ideas and concepts for copy
  • Present results to support the success and learnings of major projects
  • Ensure the copy meets legal, compliance and business requirements
  • Take ownership of our tone of voice guidelines and brand style
The focus of the copy will be on Product line [to view the product set see the Canada Life website] however from time to time there may be a requirement to assist across our other lines of business on an ad-hoc basis. The Senior Copywriter must have a proven track record in creating engaging copy across multiple-platforms, including:
  • Digital - Websites, mobile apps, emails, social media, blogs
  • Marketing materials (including brochures and webinars)
  • Campaigns
  • Press advertising
  • News releases
  • Sales/customer letters
  • Editorials/Press Releases
  • Video scripts;
  • Internal communications
The Copywriting function is fairly new to Canada Life, thus the copywriter will be owning the direction and delivering content to the new brand style and tone of voice. This role will require extensive relationship building across various stakeholders across Canada Lifes UK Business. As such, we are looking for someone who can effectively build alliances and enjoys collaborating with numerous stakeholders. We are looking for someone who has the skills to sell-in a concept, and simplify the complex. This person must be a self-starter, who relishes the freedom and the opportunity to help a major UK Financial Services organisation to very tangibly deliver its new brand voice. We expect the successful applicant to be able to hit the ground running, thus interpersonalskills and a collaborative approach are as important as having the required skills. Proactive and solutions focused, we expect this person to quickly onboard and build effective working relationships with all the lines of business, marketing executives and various Marketing Leads across Canada Life UK. What Youll Do
  • Manage Copywriters (currently one).
  • Responsible for training and mentoring in-house Copywriters and freelance writers.
  • Support the wider business areas to design and deliver appropriate marketing material with consideration to the customer experience.
  • Tone of voice brand guardian - ensure all copy aimed at customers and advisers meets tone of voice guidelines
  • Take and interpret content briefs working across multiple lines of business, working with a variety of stakeholders, from creative colleagues to Business Marketing leads. You must be familiar with challenging briefs to ensure the requirements are robustand creating clear timelines to help manage expectations and delivery schedules. All content to be on-brand and on time/within budget if using any external agency support.
  • Support the Creative Services Manager with allocating and monitoring the day to day activities and workflows of the team, to ensure the resource deadline and service standards are met and maintained and effective working relationships with internal clientsare fostered.
  • Inputting to delivery schedules and master project plans working with PM Team to help manage delivery and flow-through of assets into compliance colleagues etc. for approval.
  • Responsible for SLAs and processes for the Copywriting function.
  • Drive creative initiatives/projects, ensuring fresh thinking is employed and up to date
  • innovations are utilised.
Who You Are
  • Highly skilled and extensive experience of working in an agile environment, partnering with key stakeholders and marketing teams, providing impactful but approved on-brand content packages in accordance to project timelines and critical key milestones asagreed by the marketing team.
  • Proven experience working either in house or agency within a regulated environment. Experience of working within Financial Services and demonstrating working with complex technical copy is essential, working within an intermediated business would be advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and distil complex ideas into a simple message
  • Ability to take ownership and demonstrate initiative in creating and developing multi-media content strategies that align with marketings business priorities and target customers
  • Ability to nurture relationships across the business with the creative and imaginative side of always being on the hunt for a good story to tell
  • Experience in writing engaging Short copy for advertising campaigns and digital/web
  • Knowledge of SEO
