Job Description

Working on behalf of our client, a global player providing state of the art cell biology and pharmacology support to a range of global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, we have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and pro-active Senior/PrincipalAnimal Technician.The successful applicant will be an integral part of a dynamic and flexible team, conducting a wide range of in vivo efficacy testing models as well as developing new in vivo models. This is an exciting time to join the team as we are expanding on our offeringof disease models - training will be available on site, as required. This role is based at their Portishead site near the vibrant city of Bristol.Basic Requirements:

  • Relevant Higher Qualification (Biological Sciences, Animal Welfare or similar)
  • Holder of Home Office License; Modules 1-4 (or equivalent qualification) with experience of working with rodents or small animals
  • Proven husbandry experience, caring for and handling animals under SPF conditions
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills
  • Passion for animal welfare
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Providing a high level of animal care at all times, ensuring that the animals welfare is a priority throughout the process.
  • Administering drugs (through a variety of routes) and blood sampling with due care and attention.
  • Performing other surgical techniques as needed, again, in adherence to the strictest regulations.
  • Maintaining highly accurate records at all times, escalating any problems to the appropriate team member.
  • Work closely with Scientists and Managers on projects to ensure models are viable.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols appropriately and to report any quality issues immediately.
