Census coverage survey area support 37 hours a week Contract: 6 April 2021 to 24 June 2021 plus holidaySalary dependent on locationBand 1 - £14.61Band 2 - £12.64Band 3 - £11.22No fixed daily working hours but you must work within the following times:Monday to Saturday: 9am and 8pmSundays and bank holidays: 10am and 4pmConfident organisers make the censusThe census is a survey of the entire population of England and Wales that happens every 10 years. It’s run by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and gives us a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales.The information we collect is used to make decisions that affect everyone – things like how many schools, surgeries and hospitals we need.We’re now looking for an organised assistant to support our census coverage survey area manager, who oversees the census in your area.The roleAre you helpful, organised and accurate in your work In this important temporary role, you will support the census coverage survey area manager, who will oversee team leaders. You will work alongside this team and help to make sure the census coverage survey runs smoothly.It’s a varied role, combining desk-based and administrative tasks in the field. You will collate reports, arrange meetings, take notes and communicate with a variety of people including ONS employees and local authorities.You will work independently and choose your hours, within guidelines set by the area manager.About youYou’re supportive, organised and self-motivated. You keep accurate, timely records and act with integrity. A clear communicator, you have good written and verbal skills in English (and ideally Welsh if you’re working in Wales). You will have the confidence to work with a range of people, including management and the public, and excellent customer service skills are essential.As this is a home-working role, you will need space you can use as an office. In some locations, you will need a current, full UK driving licence and use of a motor vehicle, insured for business use. We will pay travel expenses within your work area.People make the census.
