Job Description

NOW Careers is exclusively partnering with a Pontypridd based Community Housing Organisation to recruit a Trainee Accountant to join its finance team. The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate or an early stages AAT studier who is keen to take a stepinto a progressive role and over time take on more responsibility.The role will pay a salary of circa £28,000 per annum plus excellent benefits and study support to the successful candidate. The role will sit within the Corporate Finance team, where you will be involved in the production of long-term business plans, financialmodelling, business and CAPEX appraisals, treasury management, cashflow forecasting.Reporting into the Financial Analyst the main duties of the role will include -

  • Assisting with preparation of the long-term business plan.
  • Supporting the Financial Analyst in the delivery of financial modelling and grant, development and other CAPEX appraisals.
  • Assisting with the production of reporting for the purposes of decision-making, by the senior and executive leadership teams.
  • Assisting in the identification, reporting and mitigation of key financial risks.
  • Keeping up to date with financial trends and economic conditions, as well as ensuring an understanding of competitors/partners and peers’ performance.
  • Collaborating with other members of the wider finance team, providing support where necessary and supporting the Finance Business Partners where required with the delivery of financial analysis and modelling.
  • Ensuring that any reconciliations you are responsible for are carried out at least on a monthly basis.
  • Carrying out ad hoc project support as required.
  • Completing relevant returns, specifically any ONS returns
The ideal candidate will -
  • Be a Graduate in Accountancy or similar subject, or foundation stage AAT
  • Be prepared to work towards becoming a qualified CCAB Accountant
  • Possess an advanced understanding and level of accounting knowledge, gained at least through qualification
  • Have the ability to demonstrate a high level of ICT literacy and experienced at using different software programmes including Microsoft Office
  • Have the ability to manage your own workload, prioritising as necessary to meet changing or often demanding targets with the successful completion within agreed deadlines
  • Be comfortable in communicating effectively with a wide range of different stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Have the ability to evaluate a situation, identify and draw appropriate conclusions and maintain a logical and solution based focus.
