Job Description

EJ789 - Corporate Compliance and Ethics Manager (Hybrid) Location: Pontypridd/Hybrid1 day a week in office Salary: £37,200Overview:First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Corporate Compliance and Ethics Manager on behalf of one of our clients.To oversee and promote the companys ethics and corporate compliance work, with a particular focus on developing, implementing, maintaining and monitoring the counter-fraud, corruption and bribery framework, strategy and action plan. The post-holder will bethe guardian of the companys code of ethics.Our client encourages applications from ex-military however all candidates will be given due consideration.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a team of four within the Corporate Governance team, but as part of the wider Finance, Corporate Governance and Corporate Services team and will reach across the whole group of companies.
  • Leading two major cross-group projects.
  • Advise the Board on the development of a culture of ethical compliance and policy across the business by developing the companys code of ethics and overseeing implementation to ensure an ethical decision-making framework.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and monitor a counter-fraud, corruption and bribery (referred to as counter-fraud) framework and policy. To ensure that there is demonstrable effective and efficient prevention, detection and response to all acts of FinancialCrime.
  • Work with teams to develop and implement ethical standards and counter-fraud training, education and communications programmes and plans to continually raise awareness and capability in relation to ethical standards and expected behaviours.
  • In conjunction with the risk team, develop and maintain a fraud risk assessment process by identifying and recording risks to ensure risks are identified and managed appropriately.
  • Oversee whistleblowing process including administration of a confidential whistleblowing reporting system for employees, customers, contractors and other stakeholders. Investigation of whistleblowing cases and suspected cases of fraud, corruption and briberyand reviewing policies and procedures to ensure staff, customers and stakeholders can have confidence in reporting compliance breaches.
  • Manage the annual conflicts of interest process and on-going gifts and hospitality process including provision of guidance on conflicts of interest and other ethical dilemmas to individuals and teams.
  • The Corporate Governance team is responsible for the further development of corporate governance and compliance arrangements in line with best practice, providing guidance to all company Boards, their sub-committees and executive team to ensure they cancontribute meaningfully to the operation and strategic development.
  • This role will contribute to the success of the organisation by providing compliance and ethics advice and guidance across the business.
  • Own and make improvements to processes and policies.
  • Content of counter-fraud and ethics education and training programme.
  • Counter-fraud and ethics communications plan.
  • Design of counter-fraud investigation process.
  • Decision to accept/reject gifts or hospitality.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience of working in a corporate compliance role.
  • Working knowledge of financial crime prevention controls and reporting.
  • Pragmatic decision maker when judging the severity of potential compliance issues.
  • Experience acting independently with diplomacy and with objectivity.
  • Experience dealing with sensitive information.
Desirable:
  • Accredited counter-fraud qualification.
  • Welsh language skills.
  • Experience dealing with the Freedom of Information Act would be a distinct advantage.
