Job Description

NOW Careers is exclusively partnering with a Pontypridd based Community Housing Organisation to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. My client is seeking an AAT qualified of CCAB Part Qualified Accountant who will be tasked with assistingin the production of monthly management accounts within agreed timescales. The Assistant Accountant will work proactively with colleagues across the business to deliver a professional service whilst monitoring compliance with VAT and Tax legislation and escalatingconcerns where necessary.Reporting into the Senior Management Accountant you’ll be responsible for the below -

  • Assisting with preparation of management accounts and budget working with and supporting the finance business partners and management accountant.
  • Ensuring that all transactions are recorded on a timely and accurate basis to ensure prompt production of management information.
  • Ensuring that all reconciliations you are responsible for are carried out at least on a monthly basis.
  • Completing the VAT return including all management and compliance to the agreed partial exemption method, thus ensuring all transactions are accounted for
  • Ensuring any and all journal entries are correctly posted to the ledgers and posting journal entries as required.
  • Carrying out ad hoc project support as required.
  • Ensuring procedures are recorded accurately, are updated and are compliant with the organisation’s financial regulations.
  • Being the first point of contact for any VAT and Tax queries and where appropriate seeking support and advice from our external advisors.
  • Completing relevant returns, specifically any ONS returns
The successful candidate will -
  • Be qualified AAT or part-qualified CCAB Accountant
  • Have a good understanding and level of accounting knowledge
  • Have practical experience of VAT and Tax compliance
  • Possess the ability to demonstrate a high level of ICT literacy and experienced at using different software programmes including Microsoft Office
  • Be able to manage their own workload, prioritising as necessary to meet changing or often demanding targets
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of different stakeholders both internally and externally
