You are sitting in Nandos with a recent care leaver talking about their career and education aspirations. Why Because on the first meeting you had with this young person, they told you they really want to get their first job. They want to have moneyto do things. In particular, to go and eat in Nandos like other young people they see (and they have never been able to afford to and no one has taken them there before). So as their coach, and working for this charity, you arrange for the 2nd session withyou to be in Nandos, to talk about their career and how you can help them.A few sessions later and you have helped them create a CV. You have sent them on a functional skills course. You search online for vacancies together. Help them apply for a job and teach them how to write a cover letter. They get the job (very happy young person! Thanks to you preparing them for the interview). But it is quite a journey and they dont drive. You then arrange through the charity to buy them a bike to get to work. One happy young person on the next step in their life. You will be working with a caseload of 30 young people. There are no targets. But the aim is to try and make a positive difference to each young person you coach. You will be based working out of a friendly youth project with your colleagues and other charities.Throughout the week you might visit young people in cafs or community centers. And will usually work one day a week from home. Please apply via this advert. This role is a 12-month fixed term contract, but the charity is usually winning contracts year round, so there is a strong chance it will continue into a longer term role. You will need to have direct experience of supporting 18-24 years olds in some capacity. This could be as an employment advisor, youth worker, hostel worker, supporting housing officer, housing advisor, drug an alcohol support worker or careers advisor. If you do want to speak to someone in person before applying or have any questions, feel free to call the office and ask for Lawrence/David (number on the Red 5 People website).Interviews are ASAP - 1st stage via MS Teams and 2nd stage in-person
