Job Description

Are you looking for a new role Have you experience working with children that have special educational needs Look no further, because Reed Education have what you need!Role: Teaching AssistantLocation: Multiple Locations across CornwallJob Type:Multiple Options - (Full time / Flexible / Part-time / day-to-day)About us:We are seekingdedicated Teaching Assistants to join our education team here at Reed Education.The successful candidates will be responsible for providing high-quality education support, in line with our policies, procedures,and practices, and the standards set by the school. This role is ideal for someone with experience in working with autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviour, and who is committed to promoting the physical, educational, and moral developmentof students.Daily Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher/tutor in delivering a high-quality education and implementing relevant education policies and procedures.
  • Provide individual or group support to students to enable them to access the curriculum independently.
  • Assist in organising the classroom and resources to create a stimulating learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher/tutor to plan for student safety, both on and off-site.
  • Produce and implement effective resources and teaching aids as directed by the class teacher/tutor.
  • Participate in the School’s multi-professional team and contribute to the School Development Plan.
  • Support the care team with the morning routine for students, including preparation for school and personal care as needed.
  • Manage challenging behaviour, helping Service Users develop self-control.
  • Maintain communication with colleagues to ensure individual student needs are met.
  • Keep up-to-date with educational practice and autism-related information.
  • Safeguard students and ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Liaise with staff from other departments for a consistent approach to education and care.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience with autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to record information accurately.
  • Ability to deal with complex and challenging behaviour.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or willingness to work towards further qualifications as required.
