Job Description

Support WorkerPlymptonThe CompanyMaximising potential for over 20 years, Westcountry Case Management provides a specialist case management service that helps individuals recruit their own support workers. We have just been rated as Outstanding in our recent CQC inspection.Our ambition is to inspire clients, their relatives and professionals alike by consistently attaining excellent outcomes, supporting people with compassion and kindness.We are currently looking for a Support Worker to join our team in the Plympton and Sparkwell areas, providing support to our client, a boy who has cerebral palsy.The Benefits- An hourly rate of £12 - £14 dependent on experience- Work directly for the end service user and not an agency- Statutory benefits and holiday- Bonus schemeThe RoleAs a support worker, you will work as part of a team to provide support to our client, a six year old boy living with his parents who has cerebral palsy.Ensuring his safety and wellbeing at all times, you will facilitate our clients development, independence and participation in the community.You will support our clients academic career, collecting him from school and after school clubs, as well as assisting him with his homework. You will also assist our client with his personal care, as well as supporting his physiotherapy, speech and languagetherapy and occupational therapy.This role involves working up to 25 hours per week, in shifts from 3 pm to 8 pm Monday to Friday, during term time only.About YouTo be considered as a Support Worker, you will need:- To hold a recognised Health and Social Care qualification (NVQ Level 2 or a Diploma) or equivalent- A good understanding of the personal and physical needs of a client with physical and cognitive difficulties- The ability to follow instructions and/or guidance- A flexible approach- The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written- A full, valid driving licence and access to your own vehiclePrevious experience providing care for clients with physical and communication difficulties would be beneficial to your application, as would experience of learning, cognitive and/or behavioural support. Competency in IT would also be advantageous.Please note, part-time and Job Share options will be considered.This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS.
