Job Description

Strategy / Business AnalystSF31488Devonport, PlymouthCentral ServicesHere at Babcock International, we are seeking a Strategy / Business Analyst to join our new Division - the Naval Nuclear Support Centre. This is a pan-sector support function that aims to develop coherence across the Naval Nuclear business and facilitates cross sector strategy development and delivery. The services we provide include:

  • Strategy planning and facilitating the creation and execution of the Naval Nuclear strategy
  • Provision of business management information
  • Strategic Analysis
  • Customer relationship management
  • Support to the Naval Nuclear Board
    • Main Purpose of RoleThis Strategy / Business Analyst is responsible for providing strategic information and insights to the Naval Nuclear executive team through the Head of the Naval Nuclear Support Centre. The focus of the role is to provide a range of services to support strategic development, business decision-making and tracking against strategic priorities.The role is responsible for supporting strategic decision-making across a range of topics by performing analysis, drawing valuable insights and then communicating conclusions and recommendations clearly, this individual will be an innovative problem solver.The role includes supporting production of the Naval Nuclear strategic plan and co-ordination of the sub-sector annual strategy plan into the Group process. Undertaking market & opportunity research, carrying out competitor and customer analysis, business modelling and strategic planning.The Strategic / Business Analyst will be responsible for designing frameworks, including the development of business roadmaps, data driven dashboards and developing a repository of information to inform strategy planning and monitoring the execution of the strategy.The role demands extensive research, utilising numerous information sources, collaboration and liaison with other areas of the business and the subsequent presentation of the results in a manner which presents insights and supports strategic decision making. You will also learn about and maintain knowledge of market conditions using public and commissioned sources.Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences:The role demands extensive research, utilising numerous information sources, collaboration and liaison with other areas of the business and the subsequent presentation of the results in a manner which supports strategic decision making.The following skills and experience would be advantageous:
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of software tools used within specialism such as MS Office programmes, SharePoint, MS Visio and Power BI
  • Analytical skills with the ability to understand and shape business requirements. Knowledge and experience of methods to support analysis
  • Able to manage a complex workload with multiple deadlines and stakeholders
  • Experience of designing metrics and measures and creating performance tracking artefacts such as dashboards
  • Good presentation skills, ability to influence and articulate arguments
  • Ability to pull together complex information and present it in a coherent manner and at the appropriate level for the audience. In particular refining and summarising information for senior management
  • Experience of analysis of data to provide useful information and insights including business performance, market and competitor analysis
  • Using tools such as SWOT/ PESTLE
  • Experienced in the creation of business roadmaps, management information, strategy packs and business plans
  • Ability to work well with small teams as well as wider groups of stakeholders. Fostering teamwork and collaboration
  • Self-motivated, curious and self-learning, disciplined, and able to prioritise for tight deadlines
  • Experienced in the creation of budgets and forecasts and demonstrates commercial awareness, with an ability to translate business questions into financial analysis
    • Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level in a technical or business discipline or equivalent experience
  • Extensive recent and relevant experience in a similar environment / business sector
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a similar strategic business role
