Job Title: Strategic Support LeadSF30806Location: Devonport, PlymouthBusiness Unit: WarshipsSalary: £60,000 (plus bonus and private healthcare)Overall Department DirectionAn exciting opportunity to join our Surface Ship support team as a Programme Manager, cohering our business strategy through integration of our strategic development programmes. Our support footprint covers Scotland and the South West, with the role based in Plymouth, Devon.The role is within our Surface Ship business unit, part of the Marine & Technology Division of Babcock International Group. The through-life support we provide for the Royal Navy covers all Surface Combatants (Type 23 Frigates), the Amphibious Class vessels and Sandown Class MCMVs.Main Purpose of RoleAs the Strategic Support Lead, you will work with the Warships executive team to ensure our strategy is aligned; integrating our strategic campaigns through a single, coherent programme to ensure our support and services meets our customers current and future needs.As an experienced leader, you will bring strong programme and strategic management disciplines to ensure our strategy remains aligned and coherent. Your excellent communication skills will ensure our strategy can be understood and delivered by everyone within Warships, working with stakeholders across the Industrial and executive teams.As the strategic support lead you will be responsible for:*Managing, refining and articulating the business strategy*Working with the strategic campaign leads to integrate key phases, activities and outcomes into our strategic roadmap*Generating, managing and updating our strategic key performance indicators, providing insight against our overall progression against our strategy*Development of our annual business plan, ensuring our strategy remains visible, understood and communicated to our people and key stakeholderRequired Knowledge, Skills, Experience and CompetencesEssential:*Knowledge and experience of Programme and Portfolio Management*Strong commercial awareness*Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to deliver outputs at Board Level, with a track record of using MS Office Suite of applications*Performance Management*Ability to operate in a partnering environment with other managers and the MOD customerQualifications*A Degree, or equivalent level, in a Business/Engineering/Technical subject or alternatively HNC and as determined by the relevant Director based on incumbents relevant expertise and specialist Naval support knowledge.*APMP / IPMA Level D qualified or equivalent*Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)Babcock offers a supportive environment including: enhanced employment terms and conditions, money purchase pension scheme with life assurance, share ownership scheme, Occupational Health services, flexible working hours (only non-industrials), career opportunities and specialist advice and guidance from our Learning & Development teams.
