We have over 65,000 employees and a presence in virtually every country aroundthe world to address some of the most challenging global health issues.BD Plymouth, a state-of-the-art Manufacturing 27 acre site, proud to be actively recruiting driven, passionate and teamorientated people to supplement our highly skilled team during this period of growth.ABOUT THE ROLEWe are recruiting a Steriliser Technician who will be responsible for technical support role activities to the steriliser machinery, product handling machinery and associated equipment as well as technical support role activities to the steam autoclave sterilisationprocesses. The Steriliser Technician shall be responsible for maintenance activities and process improvement activities through engineering solutions.This position is on a continuous shift (23-11) on a 3 day on/off rotation with a generous shift allowance of 48%.Job DescriptionMain responsibilities will include:

  • Work with and assist the Steriliser technical team to improve and maintain the efficiency of the sterilisation process.
  • Shared responsibility for radiological safety requirements and systems, their correct operation and effectiveness.
  • Identify improvements to existing equipment that lead to cost reductions, increased productivity, quality and H&S improvements using SAP and production downtime history.
  • Take ownership for running small process improvement projects as agreed with the process group, including the co-ordination of relevant skills (Toolroom, Quality, Validation etc).
  • Is mindful of safety of self and others. Takes relevant safety precautions, wears appropriate personal protective equipment and maintains tools and appliances in safe working order. Reports safety hazards to Supervisor/Team Leader. Serves on Emergency Team.
  • Provides technical expertise and assistance to technical associates in resolving sophisticated machine related faults. To be the problem solver on shift and provide solutions to the engineering and technical team. To be proactive in undertaking technicaldiagnostics and implementing robust engineering solutions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Ensure all manufacturing equipment is set up and produces product according to established standards and validated settings
About youThe successful candidate will ideally be apprenticeship trained with either an electrical mechanical bias or multi-skilled. You will maintain good communication and effective information transfer within and between shifts.
