The desireis for someone with safety case experience in the nuclear industry to become responsible for all site-based safety submissions. This opportunity is to aid in the support of all planning, managing, and delivering of programmes with knowledge of the nuclearsafety principles to ensure effective project development .

An opportunity for a Safety Case Engineer and author to attend site to support the development and processing of safety submissions for major MOD nuclear infrastructure projects Your Role as a safety Case engineer will involve:Working in our Energy Technology and Security division, you will be involved in planning, managing, and delivering programmes of work to support nuclear safety critical infrastructure, in a multidiscipline environment. The team includes a wealth of experienceand expertise in the design and substantiation of safety related systems, structures, and equipment. Sharing of knowledge and learning of new skills is actively encouraged. As we continue to grow, we are looking to appoint an additional site-based Safety Engineerto support projects at Devonport.Your responsibilities will include:
  • Taking a leading role in the development of the safety case and changing submissions on Nuclear implicated infrastructure. Also, knowledge of the product, construction, process and HSE would be beneficial
  • Technical quality and excellence of your work
  • Communication with clients and other design team members, and participation in Design reviews, HAZOPs, HAZCONS SHERAs and stakeholder meetings, including representation at on-site safety committees
  • Contributing to the development of design for complex facilities, systems, and equipment
  • Adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems
  • Operational and design safety, and developing good safety culture
Your experience and Qualifications will include:
  • You will have a university degree (Hons) in technical discipline with suitable post-Graduation experience- Required
  • Preferably you will be a chartered engineers in technical discipline with post charter experience in safety case role
  • You will need firsthand experience of the development of the appropriate and proportionate safety case including Nuclear, product, construction, process and HSE
  • High technical quality of work
  • Previous participation in Design Reviews, HAZOPs, HAZCONs, SHERAs
  • Ideally you will be a Certified HAZOP Chairman
  • Working knowledge of MOD Standards for the development of safety justification
Other Requirements include:
  • An Understanding of the principles of nuclear safety as applied on MOD sites and/or civil applications
  • Working knowledge of key legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Proven track record in delivering safety case documentation,
  • Good verbal and written communication, and report writing skills
  • Ability to produce safety case documentation
