Job Description

Butler Rose are partnered with a Plymouth based Manufacturer, who have a current requirement for an experienced Quality ManagerThe roleThe Quality Manager will lead the quality assurance effort to help move to a world class manufacturing site able to meet demanding customer requirements.The role will direct and coordinate the quality improvement program, by giving adequate support to the manufacturing process and obtain process data to drive improvements, improve profitability and reduce scrap.The Quality Manager also manages the improvement of both Health & Safety and our Environmental impact by deploying Best Practice systems.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • This role is responsible for overseeing all business, Quality, H&S & Environmental management systems and procedures.
  • Responsible for managing the Quality Dept to achieve the required performance results aligned with the companys strategy
  • Lead the team through effective communication, coaching & recognition. Undertake appraisals, performance management and identify training needs.
  • Communicate and share the companys quality philosophy to key personnel in the company.
  • Ensure that the Companys Business Management Systems (ISO9001/14001/18001), procedures, standards & documents are achieved and maintained.
  • Prepare and present a monthly Senior Management Report detailing statistical quality control & the performance against KPIs for Safety, Quality and Environment.
  • Investigate and record customer complaints regarding product performance, specifications, and reliability.
  • Key in front end New Product Introduction (NPI) & design, ensuring an APQP approach to building quality into new product & processes using tools such as: QFD, DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC, PPAP sign off including: PSW, Control plans, MSA etc.
  • Lead, coach & oversee all root cause investigations on key quality issues
  • Develop the existing product warranty & returns policy and prepare and manage Warranty Agreements and monthly warranty expenditure.
  • To manage departmental budgets in line with planned levels and business variations.
  • Implement quality training programs for key quality & manufacturing personnel and supply chain partners.
  • Ensure the appropriate calibration of all quality equipment on the shop and in the central inspection dept.
  • Continually looking to enhance our measurement systems via new techniques & technology and their integration into the process.
  • Work with purchasing & logistics to integrate quality standards as part of the Service Level Agreements for customers and core suppliers.
  • Perform any other duties/tasks within the skills & capability of the incumbent, as instructed by the Operations Director.
To be chosen for the role
  • Excellent Senior Management leadership experience & skill, demonstrated experience in coaching and developing individuals
  • Strategic thinker, with strong analytical skills (attention to detail), with good verbal communication skills & process management understanding.
  • Relevant degree level qualified with 10yrs experience in quality assurance management.
  • Strong working knowledge/experience of ISO9001/14001/18001 compliance.
  • Strong technical background, with working knowledge & experience of APQP/Six Sigma
