Job Description

Job title: Supply Quality Engineer Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annumLocation: Plymouth Experienced Quality Engineer required to work for a large modern manufacturer in Plymouth.You will ensure the product and manufacturing processes meet with the companys quality standards, be responsible for monitoring the quality systems implementation on the shop floor, driving continuous improvement throughout the process, handling and managingnon-conforming material, and driving down scrap levels in process. In addition, the Supplier Specialist will maintain and developing the quality of products received from the supplier base. Continuous improvement of suppliers driving improvements and effective corrective actions in response to non-conformance identified. Totake a proactive approach and establish investigations/studies based on incoming inspection data collected. To carry out external audits of supplier sites both in the UK and abroad. Key responsibilities:* To engage with the shop floor production and actively identify, establish and drive continuous improvement throughout the organisation, responding to the quality and failures identified* Manage the incoming inspection of parts delivered to the company, defining the inspection level to be completed and reacting to any non-conformances identified* Manage non-conforming product from suppliers ensuring effective implementation of corrective methods using 8D methodology* Completion of supplier audits to ISO9001 and AS9100 standards* Monitoring and initiating corrections with regard to product quality/quality planning of suppliers* Coaching of suppliers to ensure that APQP and PPAP requirements and documentation are achieved* Reporting supplier quality metrics* Actively identify and lead Quality improvement projects; ensuring completion in a timely manner* Travel to suppliers both in the UK and internationally where required* To drive and lead 8D analysis across the site * To deliver training across the organisation on critical quality skills including 8D, SPC, Visual Inspection and Root Cause Investigation Techniques* To work as an integral part of the Quality Engineering team to ensure that all audits are completed in line with their planned schedule* To work with the Quality Team promoting the Quality Strategy and practical implementation throughout the organisation* To work with the Quality team to identify areas and issues of non-compliance to standards and procedures across the businessQualifications:* Qualified to Masters degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject and/or recognised by a relevant chartered body* Audit qualification against ISO9001 or AS9100* Six Sigma CertificationEssential skills:* Experience of Quality Engineering within an Engineering or Manufacturing Environment* Formal training and comprehensive understanding of quality management systems ISO9001, AS9100, AS9120* Ability to interpret Engineering drawings, technical specifications with a demonstrable understanding of Geometric Tolerances* Strong and demonstrable experience in 8D, 5Why investigations and continuous improvement activities* Demonstrable involvement in the use and a comprehensive understanding of quality improvement tools including Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), 5Ys and 8Ds* Experience of Supplier Auditing to ISO9001 or AS9100 standard* Formal Auditor training preferred* Knowledge/Experience of Project management techniquesPlease click apply now or call the Acorn Plymouth office to discuss further.Acorn by Synergie acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment.
