Job Description

nmcn work in partnership and collaboration with our customers, to deliver major built environment and critical national infrastructure projects across the UK. Our specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill – from building and highways, to large-scale water networks and treatment plants.Through our unique offering, providing services from feasibility and design, to construction and handover, our Water business provides ‘Full Asset Lifecycle Thinking’ across our projects, in both the clean and wastewater environments. Always ensuring we are supporting our customers with innovative outcome-based solutions and an exceptional experience. We currently deliver infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for 10 of the largest national water sector companies.Reporting to the Contracts Engineers & Site Supervisors, you will be responsible for the Mechanical installation/maintenance of industrial equipment, plant and associated ancillary materials on Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Pumping Stations and Chemical Dosing Systems.It should be noted that this role may require you to be on an ‘on-call’ rota to provide emergency breakdown attendance.What you’ll be doing day to day

  • Be able and proficient to read General Arrangement drawings and sections.
  • Be able to take information from drawings to set out including line and level pipework and supports.
  • Be able to read and understand P&ID diagrams (Process and Instrumentation drawing)
  • Installation of various Pumps utilised within the water industry – i.e. Booster Pumps, Sewage Pumps, Dosing pumps, submersible, dry well submersible.
  • Installation of VJ type adapters and bolted equipment i,e flow meters , valves and fittings to manufacturers instructions
  • Installation of ductile iron, mild steel, stainless steel, ranging from 10mm diameter to 2000mm diameter.
  • Steel threaded pipework build and installation.
  • Plastic glued joints for UPVC & ABS systems including dosing board setting out and installation inc of inline and instrumentation transmitters/systems.
  • Dual contained dosing line installations
  • Electro fusion/butt welded joint pipe systems.
  • Installation of isolation, non-return, pressure relieve valves etc. and fittings
  • Installation of Screening equipment, Filters, Scraper Bridges, Distributors, Penstocks, Kiosks, Dosing Rigs etc. typically found within the water industry
  • Installation of steel fabrications, bracketry, hand railings etc
  • Pressure testing of pipeline systems.
  • Part of a Mechanical & Electrical Gang - Assisting electrical trades when required
  • Responsible for the safe construction of the installation works.
  • Training of apprentices assigned to working on your Projects.
  • Delivering the installation to meet the programme of works during construction phase
  • Red-lining on site Issued For Construction drawings, marking them ‘As-Built’alongside Project Egr/Site manager responsible for the scheme.
  • Innovate, providing suggestions and ideas to the Contract Engineer or Site Supervisor for improved project delivery
  • Take responsibility for site safety, health and environmental issues
  • Check goods delivered to site are supplied as per order
  • Identifying changes to the works information and reporting to the Contracts Engineer / Supervisor
  • Ensuring Positive interventions are logged through the Quick PI app daily.
  • Complete Providence attendance apps daily
