Job Description

RoleMechanical CAD TechnicianType - PermanentLocation -Near PlymouthSalaryDependent on experience (please advise what youre looking for)My client designsand manufactures electro-mechanical engineering products, and they are looking to take on a CAD Technician on a permanent basis, near the Plymouth area.The CAD Technicianwill ideally have the following attributes:

  • NVQ Apprenticeship / BTEC / City & Guilds / HNC / HND / Degree qualified or similar in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 1 year or more of industry experience ideally working within CAD modelling & draughting in a similar manufacturing environment
  • Have knowledge and experience of using 3D CAD softwareSolidWorks ideally but others will also be considered
  • Previous experience of the design of mechanical moving parts or enclosing electronic elements in products
  • Good knowledge of design for manufacture and manufacturing processes - injection moulding, metal fabrication, vacuum forming or machining processes would be desirable
  • Good organisational skills are required and good time management too
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a team
The CAD Technician role will involve:
  • Helping to consistently improve electromechanical company products
  • Working with production and having an element of being hands on too
  • Being self sufficient in the role but not having full responsibility for the designs
  • Being involved in the change note process
  • Working with SolidWorks CAD software when required to make changes to the CAD models
  • Working closely with other engineering colleagues
