Job Title: Material EngineerSF33164Location: Devonport, PlymouthStarting Salary: £31,470About the roleHere at Babcock International were looking for a Weapons Material Engineer to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. Were a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.Defence Systems Technology (DST) is transforming and we need your to support with the exciting challenges the business faces, in order to grow. As a Material Engineer youll be responsible for ensuring that Materials provided in support of projects undertaken within the Combined Weapons Workshop are successfully delivered to production, thus enabling successful delivery of contract(s) to time, quality & cost.Working closely with the Material Support Manager to understand and undertake material requisitioning for all weapons projects youll develop and manage detailed plans, processes and systems in support of materials activities, working with our project and production teams to supply planning, procurement, logistics and other material management.This is an exciting opportunity for someone dynamic, ambitious and eager to make an impact, to become our next Marerial Engineer.What do I need to do the roleYoull have demonstrable rexperience in Supply Chain Management and Project / Production ManagementWe would also like you to have the following :

  • Knowledge of Customer Operations and Objectives
  • Knowledge of the 4.5 MK 8 Gun and Phalanx Weapons systems
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Good time-management and prioritisation skills;
  • The ability intepret data to compile, summarise and produce reports with professional independence and judgement.
  • Lastly, youll have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to cultivate and manage effective working relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues.What else do I need to knowThe successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements.
