Job Description

Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerLocation: PlymouthSalary: From £35,000 per yearJob type: Full Time (Monday to Friday)The Barden Corporation is recognised as a world leader in the design and manufacture of super precision ball bearings.Barden bearings are produced using advanced technology to the highest standards. Our bearings are used in virtually every sector of industrywhere there is a need to meet critical tolerances, high speeds and reliable performance under the most demanding operating conditions.The role: The role of manufacturing engineer will support the business through technical problem-solving techniques to ensure products and processes are maintained at the highest quality and productivity standards in line with customer and business expectations.The successful candidate will:

  • Have knowledge of manufacturing and assembly best practice
  • Hold a HNC in a STEM subject or have the relevant level of experience
  • Understand and have used continuous improvement methodologies including 8Ds and Six Sigma
  • Ideally have practical engineering experience
  • Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Have the ability to solve problems at all levels
  • Be a real team player
  • Have experience in CAD, tooling & work holding design
The key requirements of the role are:
  • Ensuring cycle time optimisation and drive set up time reduction
  • Participation in production & engineering meetings
  • Creation and maintenance of standard operation procedures
  • Production instruction creation and maintenance
  • Working on and championing CAPA and 8D projects
  • Assist in identification, specification and purchase of capital equipment
  • Master data creation and maintenance
  • Lead continuous improvement & scrap reduction initiatives
