Job Description

The Management Accountant is a key financial and commercial role within a large manufacturing company based in Plymouth, providing financial support across the business, as well as within the finance team. The role is to cover a period of maternity leavefor 12 months on a fixed term contract. It will suit an experienced accountant (preferably AAT qualified), with strong analytical skills and who has a positive and flexible, continuous improvement mindset. On satisfactory completion of a probationary period,they offer hybrid working-from-home for one day per week and a degree of flexibility with core hours working.Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce month end sales and gross margin analysis, and variance analysis for management accounts.
  • Produce month end profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Produce monthly management report.
  • Maintain KPI information.
  • Involved in budget and forecast processes.
  • Monthly review and update of standard costs - including annual cost roll up.
  • Review and refine finance procedures to make improvements (including the use of SAP)
  • Prepare statutory accounts for Company and pension scheme
  • Lead contact for financial statements statutory.
  • Prepare DB Pension scheme accounts and contact for annual audit.
  • Review of monthly payroll before submission - UK & overseas payroll.
  • Process of P11Ds and any other ad-hoc payments.
  • Annual German VAT Return.
  • Manage and develop the finance team, including Performance Development Reviews.
  • SAP Super User for Finance team.
  • Oversee maintenance of financial systems and data reporting.
  • Other ad hoc duties or cover as required.
Essential Experience / Qualifications and Attributes Required:
  • A’ level Maths or NVQ equivalent.
  • Recognised Professional Accountancy Qualification (or close to achievement of).
  • Microsoft Excel - intermediate/advanced.
  • Team Player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Self-motivated and enjoys working to deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable:
  • Experience within the manufacturing or FMCG sector
  • SAP experience, ideally Super-user
