Job Description

Due to the continued success and growth of our client, an expert in turnkey Installations for a broad range of Industries with 30 years’ experience of full system solutions from design to delivery of Electrical & Mechanical projects.The position of Electrical Contracts Manager will oversee all aspects of assigned contracts, across multiple sectors of the business, from conception to completion. You will manage the Company’s resources to achieve a successful outcome, Technically, Commercially,Safely and to the Clients Satisfaction on the project. This position reports to our Electrical Contracts Director.Main Duties:

  • Work alongside the Director to develop professional relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Actively promote the company and the services offered.
  • Management of enquiries and participation in the tender, design, and estimation process. Dependant on the size of works, this may be undertaken by you alone. This should be undertaken always using Company best practice.
  • Always maintain effective communication throughout the design and estimation process.
  • Manage all aspects of the works/project from order/award to completion. This will include leadership of multidisciplinary teams and sole responsibility of the site-based operations. Maintain all relevant Company registers throughout the duration of theproject.
  • Participation is required in the completion of project programmes and communication of the programme to all stakeholders will be required. Identify and report any programme issues and chase up documentation, as necessary.
  • To manage the resources on the contract on a day-to-day basis and to report any staff issues as appropriate. Lead and motivate the team and find areas of improvement. Lead instigation of any improvements found.
  • Line management of Site Supervisors including coaching and training where needed.
  • Manage contract commercial issues and cost reporting (WIP). Manage all aspects of Variations to orders and projects.
  • To identify the client requirements and ensure we deliver these requirements to the clients’ satisfaction. This will require estimation on site.
  • Maintain all site records following Company policy.
  • Represent the company on any internal or external issues including delivery of toolbox talks.
  • Ensure all project reporting is supplied upstream and downstream promptly including job forecasting and monthly project completion schedules.
  • Regularly audit the contract/works to ensure compliance or aid the Qualifying Supervisor and/or other professionals, in undertaking any audit requirements.
  • To manage procurement and achieve the best value alongside the Procurement Manager.
  • Identify all risks and manage actions and implementation to mitigate such risks.
  • Actively engage in peer-review processes and contract reviews.
  • Completion and presentation of Operating and Maintenance Manuals.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Electrical Contracts Manager with proven Commercial and Industrial managerial experience.
  • Full detailed knowledge of 18th Edition wiring regulations.
  • 5 years of experience of managing or supervising contracts or works to reach completion within budget and timescale.
  • Ability to resolve any technical queries during the contract.
  • Familiar with JCT and NEC suite of contracts.
  • Experience of managing procurement, labour, and sub-contractors.
  • Experience of preparing monthly applications and have actively participated in any cost recovery exercises where required.
  • Experience of coordinating M&E installation and commissioning.
  • Line management experience.
  • Experience of value engineering projects to create cost savings.
  • All health and safety requirements during the contract including compiling method statements and risk assessments.
  • Positive, flexible, and pro-active attitude to work with a desire to influence others to adopt a similar attitude.
  • Must be able to remain calm under pressure whilst working to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent working knowledge of IT systems, including Office 365 and various estimating, drawing and contracts management packages.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Project - desirable.
  • Computer Aided Design competency (City & Guilds or equivalent) - desirable.
  • City & Guilds (2396) Design, Erection and Verification of Electrical Installations - essential.
  • BTEC: HNC/D (Level 4/5) Electrical Systems Engineering - desirable
  • IOSH managing safely V5 - desirable.
  • CSCS card - essential.
  • SMSTS course - essential.
  • Full driving license, own vehicle, and flexibility with working away from the Plymouth area when needed.
