This exciting role is part of the Devon & Torbay Dementia Advisor Service which provides information and support to people with dementia, their carers andwider family or friends.As a Dementia Adviser, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide information support and guidance to people living with dementia and their carers; helping them to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and put them in morecontrol of their lives. We promote a person-centred service so that our support is unique to each individual, based upon their own aspirations and needs.The service provided is unique to each service user as it is based upon their personal circumstances and support needs. In this role you will also be required to develop professional relationships with statutory and voluntary organisations across South Devonto deliver seamless support to individuals and will be delivered in a variety of ways: face to face, by phone, letter, or email and by attending post diagnostic clinics.About youYou will have:

  • The ability to assess and evaluate client need which is essential along with good organisational and time management skills to manage a caseload effectively.
  • Experience of record keeping, and report writing.
  • Passion to support people to maintain their independence improving their sense of well-being, putting them in more control of their lives and the understanding of the needs of people affected by dementia.
  • An understanding of the need for client confidentially.
  • Great communication skills, adapting your approach to ensure understanding at all levels.
  • Networking and influencing skills and the ability to manage several tasks at once and keep yourself motivated to perform under pressure.
  • Good IT skills and experience working with databases.
  • Ability to travel independently across South Devon.
  • Experience of face-to-face, telephone and virtual technology service delivery.
  • A broad understanding of statutory and voluntary services.
  • Experience of working with and role managing volunteers is desirable.
This is a great opportunity to join our team providing personalised support to people diagnosed with dementia and their carers and to promote our amazing service and build relationships with a range of health and social care professionals, and the Voluntaryand Private sector.The post will involve working in peoples homes and in a range of community settings; therefore, a DBS disclosure will be required.You may have experience of the following: Dementia Adviser, Care Assistant, Caseworker, Special Needs Assistant, Social Worker, Social Care, Community Care, Helpline Coordinator, Volunteering Officer, Support Worker, Mental Health, Dementia, etc.Ref: 135 886
