Job Description

We currently have a Craftsperson Mechanical position available for a motivated individual to join our team based at Crownhill Depot, Plymouth. Joining us on a full time, permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,719 - £31,306 per annum dependant on skills and experience,plus benefits.South West Water is part of the Pennon Group, a very successful and stable business which prides itself on sustainability. In return, we offer an excellent range of benefits which include free car parking at the majority of our sites, company Sharesave Scheme, and various health benefits.As our Craftsperson Mechanical you willfault find, repair and maintain South West Water (SWW) assets across a range of company sites, predominantly Waste Water treatment works and sewage pumping stations. You will help ensure maximum asset availability and support the SWW Vision by assisting by minimising risk to compliance and preventing pollutions.Responsibilities as our Craftsperson Mechanical will include: - Carrying out reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment to the highest standard of workmanship- Providing recommended / detailed specification of parts for ordering of stock replacements and parts needed to undertake repairs- Manufacturing and fabricating parts and equipment- Undertaking any training required in order to carry out work activities in a safe or legal manner- Carrying out work activities as scheduled- Assisting Operational staff with the resolution of complex problems- Keeping our internal customers updated with activities which may impact on their processes- Using or if necessary requesting method statements and safe systems of work for the activities you carry out- Acting as the duty mechanical craft Person on a standby/call-out rota basisWhat we are looking for in our ideal Craftsperson Mechanical:- A completed apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline- ONC/HNC or equivalents in a relevant discipline (desirable)- Utilising a full understanding of related RAMS to deliver an effective and safe maintenance regime- Experience of working with Waste Water treatment processes (desirable)- Has worked using safe systems of work and method statements- Basic understanding of 240v and 415v electrical systems (desirable)- Ability to fault find and repair large complex pieces of mechanical equipment- Computer literate- Ability to work under pressure to deliver within tight deadlines- Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal contexts at all levels- A full UK driving license- Part of a standby / callout rota- The work can entail working outside in adverse conditions.Closing date: 3rd January 2021If you are looking for a new challenge, please click apply now to be considered as our Craftsperson Mechanical - we look forward to receiving your application.
