Job Description

Job Title: Industrial PainterLocation: Plymouth, DevonCompensation: £30,376.00 + Benefits Role Type: Full time / Permanent Role ID: SF53895At Babcock were working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as an Industrial Painter at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site.The roleAs an Industrial Painter, youll have a role thats out of the ordinary. This is a unique opportunity to join an organisation with confirmed work scheduled for the significant future. You will also play a critical role in the success of the everyday maintenanceof Naval vessels. This will be a good opportunity for someone looking to grow and develop their existing skills, with the chance to gain a wider understanding of the organisation, working with multiple functions in the completion of various projects.Day to day, youll join a team of dedicated industrial staff to ensure surface preparation standards are met and coating application techniques are utilised in the day-to-day operations of vessel maintenance.

  • Support in the preparation of bare substrates and existing coatings, demonstrating the knowledge of a systematic approach.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the quality standards associated to surface preparation.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the requirements contained within paint manufacturers technical and safety data sheets.
  • Apply coating materials associated to a marine environment by brush, roller, conventional spray, and airless spray.
  • Undertake and maintain husbandry of working areas and protection of equipment
This is a full time role based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard. There may be a requirement to be to work shift work and overtime to support the business needs.A skills based test will be required before a successful offer can be madeEssential experience of the Industrial Painter:
  • Ability to read and understand an MoD Book of Reference or relevant industry standards - Desirable.
  • Airless spraying experience and sign writing experience desirable
  • Experience of various painting techniques such as Brush, Roller, Conventional and Airless Spraying
  • Sound understanding of Health & Safety / COSHH.
Qualifications for the Industrial Painter:
  • NVQ level 3 Industrial / Marine / painting / Decorating or equivalent experience would be Advantageous
  • Minimum of NVQ Level 2 Industrial / Marine / Painting / Decorating with the appetite to undertake additional training.
The successful candidate must be a British National and able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.Our Benefits
