Bookkeeper - 3 Days a Week

Job Description

Our client are a well established organisation with branches that span across Devon. They are looking for a Bookkeeperto join their finance team on a 3 day basis. This is a remote working job but will require you to visit numerous locations across PlymouthMonthly Accounting Work

  • Enter receipts and payments into OPAS, including managing recurring entries and restricted funds
  • Give feedback to parishes on missing or inadequate documentation
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly
  • Count cash held (if applicable) at least quarterly (to be counted together with parish rep) and reconcile cash account. Feedback to parish on differences in cash account
  • Review third party balances and highlight to parish any payments missed
Monthly Gift Aid Work
  • Manage Gift Aid Declarations (GADs) in OPAS
  • Enter envelope allocations into OPAS (both weekly, one off and cashless)
  • Reconcile OPAS gift aid and accounting modules at least quarterly
Annual Accounting Work
  • Prepare annual return and discuss with the branch manager before submitting to Curia
  • Respond to Curia queries
Annual Gift Aid Work
  • With parish, determine number of boxes of envelopes needed and ensure OPAS accurately reflects envelope numbers
  • Manage annual donor letter exercise and update GADs according to donor responses
  • Print year end declaration and discuss with manager before submitting to Curia
  • Run annual OPAS anonymisation routine
  • Prepare GASDS claim form and discuss with manager before submitting to Curia
Branch Monitoring and Support
  • Carry out year-end checks and reconciliations for parishes assigned by Curia, following year end checklist, and work with parish to resolve any queries
  • Carry out and document annual risk assessment discussions with manager
  • Carry out and document audit work for branches assigned by Curia, following written work programme and producing a formal written report for each
  • Provide training to parish on extracting reports and information from OPAS
  • Respond to queries from Curia and auditors as necessary
You will have Excellent bookkeeping skills, an eye for detail and you will be exceptionally well organised. You will be a great team player but able to work well autonomously. As a problem solver, you will be comfortable taking personal responsibility foryour work. You will have an aptitude for continuous learning and development.
