Job Description

Acting Director for Adult Education Delivery (Curriculum Management)An opportunity for an Adult Education specialist with operations management skills and a proven track record of leadership in the adult learning, online learning delivery, community learning, vocational learning and the Further Education sector.A hands-on manager, responsible for the management of implementation of the new educational year for Adult Education operations in Plymouth, the successful candidate will have experience working within English and Maths curriculum management; adult, community and further education leadership with a track record in quality improvement; recent Ofsted experience and understanding of new Ofsted Education Inspection Framework.Specifically you will have the relevant experience and ability to support the operational demands of delivery of adult education via online channels.This role is currently being recruited on a short term basis, starting in August 2020 until 31 October 2020 for 3 days per week. The position in based in Plymouth Devon and is not suitable for remote working due to the hands-on nature of the project. Renumeration is negotiable on a day rate basis.The ideal candidate will possess skills including:

  • Proven track record of leadership and management of education and training in the adult learning/community/vocational and FE sector including experience of launching digital learning solutions
  • Experience of Ofsted inspections and measures for success
  • Assessors/or Internal Quality Assurers award or proven ability to lead on and manage Quality Assurance
  • Specialist knowledge of delivery and management of Functional Skills and GCSE English and Maths
  • Experience of working across diverse Faculties or other providers to deliver contracts or projects
  • Specialist knowledge of Safeguarding, Prevent, Equality and Diversity, British Values and Health and Safety
  • Experience of curriculum and business planning, course leadership and managing resources
  • Experience of effective budget management in excess of £1 million and optimising funding methodologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of funding initiatives and national and local policy in relation to education and adult learning
  • A proven track record of meeting targets, particularly in relation to the Adult Skills Budget
  • Experience in assessing, tutoring, lecturing and teaching over a wide range of qualification levels and programmes
  • Experience in managing a large and diverse team
  • Experience of target setting, action planning and contractual compliance in the adult learning/community/FE sector
  • Experience of leading change and developing enterprising and innovative solutions to meet changing demands
  • Experience of collating and interpreting data and providing reports
  • Demonstrable IT competence
  • Experience of liaison with various external stakeholders including community groups
  • Desirable experience in one or more of the following: Special Educational Needs, ESOL, Workforce development, STEM, Health and Wellbeing, Community Based Asset Development, Digital Skills, Community Empowerment, Enterprise, Employability
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Degree in relevant discipline or equivalent experience/qualifications in Post 16 education
