Job Description

Job Title: 10 Dock Operations & Integration Manager Rate - up to £70 p/h umbrellaLocation - Devonport (Hybrid - on-site attendance as and when required - fortnightly)Contract length - 12 monthsBPSS/SC - Clearance required Main Purpose of Role

  • Co-ordinate the operational aspects of the system designs into an overall facility operational concept to demonstrate functional capability.
  • Co-ordinate and design spatial layout and process management aspects of facility by integration of the system designs into an overall facility layout.
  • Liaise with the UAG/XUAG and Design Lead/DH Leads to ensure operational aspects of the system and facility designs is understood and accepted.
  • Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements, operate and deliver through compliance with Babcocks Business Management System and Design & Safety Manual.
  • Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
  • Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks (Health, Safety & Environmental) associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.
Secondary Tasks & Responsibilities (Dependant on Role Allocation)
  • As a Category 3 Role Holder you are to demonstrate and promote the necessary safety culture within your area of responsibility and sphere of influence, continually assessing behaviours in your area. Where appropriate you should raise any nuclear safetyconcerns to the person responsible for that activity, their senior Line Manager, or a member of the DRDL Board
Overall department Direction:The 10 Dock Operations & Integration Manager is accountable to the 10 Dock Integration Design Manager (IIM1) for the technical management (quality) of assigned tasks. The 10 Dock Operations & Integration Manager is accountable tothe 10 Dock Project Manager for output to scope, schedule and cost.The purpose of the 10 Dock Operations & Integration Manager post is:Communication and liaison with the Design Leads, Design Housesand UAG/XUAGManaging the interfaces between, and integration of, the 10 Dockfacility system design packagesArticulating how the design packages will deliver the capabilityfunctions. Capture of the design concepts within an overall Facility layout by interfacing with the discipline leads and Users.The 10 Dock Operations & Integration Manager post operates as part of the Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) Business Unit.Required Knowledge, Skills Experience and Competences:The qualification, experience and competence requirements of this post are held within the relevant Role Profiles within the Nuclear Implicated Roles Qualifications and Experience Requirements OC(D)-SD-009 (NIRQER). The following is a summary of these requirements: Nuclear - * NUC0793 Nuclear Plant Foundation Course Module 1* NUC0794 Nuclear Fundamentals (Foundation) Course Module 2* NUC0911 Introduction to Safety Engineering* NUC0912 Safety Engineering Technical FundamentalsQualifications:Academic - A degree (or relevant experience) in an appropriate STEM discipline. A construction professional i.e. preferably Chartered Engineer or near Chartered or equivalent, registered with Engineering Council or similar body.H&S Core Training - Appropriate H&S Training; IOSH or similar agreedLocal - Sound understanding and application of relevant:* Industry legislation* Industry Codes and Standards* Design Engineering Practices* Design Management (incl. Systems Engineering), planning and budgetary control* CDM Process Training* Company and departmental procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety and Quality requirements* Submarine maintenance production engineering experience in a Dockyard environment;(Preferable).* Knowledge of process optimisation and human interface management; (Essential).* Experience of developing Concept of Operations (CONOPs) / procedure management information;(Essential).
