Job Description

Summary Since the seventeenth century, Petworth has been instrumental in nurturing now legendary artists and makers, providing the space to be inspired, to share ideas and to create new work - a buzzing creative hub of artistic gatherings and debate.Petworth’s ambition is to return to this same spirit, to be a place that champions creativity as fundamental to life. What its like to work here Here at Petworth House and Park we are striving to put our audience and supporters at the heart of everything we do and create exceptional experiences for both our visitors and for our volunteers.Volunteers are involved in every aspect of our work, with over 300 dedicated volunteers across the property who in a normal, non-covid year donate over 33,000 hours to us.Petworth House is open 7 days a week, 363 days per year and we are supported by a team of over 200 House volunteers who are a passionate and enthusiastic. Our House volunteers bring the house to life, engage our visitors and share Petworth’s story in a variety of roles such as Room Guides, Tour Guides and Talk Volunteers.We are growing our visitor numbers, from local communities and independent adults to families. We are proud to look after a place of international significance, but our focus is firmly on becoming locally loved and relevant too.Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing You’ll will help make Petworth a great place to volunteer or to be involved with; creating positive, flexible, inclusive and safe experiences for all volunteers, partners and local communities.You will work with the Volunteering and Community Officer to help us to achieve our Volunteering and Community plan and will support colleagues, volunteers, partners and our local community.Day to day you will be the main point of contact for our House volunteers, managing and supporting them on the ground, ensuring that they are able to deliver a great visitor experience.You will provide administrative support to ensure the smooth and consistent use of online processes and help to embed a self-service approach to enable volunteer managers and volunteers to use our online systems.You’ll also support events and other activities as required to deliver the Volunteering and Community plan.Please read the role profile attached.   • Good communication and team-working skills
  • A flexible approach and a positive attitude towards change
  • An understanding of the difference between staff and volunteers and is enthusiastic about the benefits of volunteering and community engagement
  • Good co-ordination and organisation skills
  • Confidence to build effective and collaborative working relationships with property teams and partners
