Job Description

Summary As our Welcome & Service Assistant Manager, you will help to lead a small team of staff and volunteers to ensure everyone feels welcome, creating an exceptional service culture and developing and supporting your team. Youll be part of a wider Welcome teamacross a large portfolio of properties, sharing learnings and resources to achieve the best possible service for our visitors.The role may be required to work across different properties within our portfolio so youll need to be willing to travel.Hours: This role is based on annualised hours (1,260 hours a year), where the number of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.Working days: Preferable working days are Wednesday-Saturday. Please note, Uppark closes for the month of January and two weeks of November for essential conservation work to be carried out. What its like to work here Uppark was built c.1690, crowning the South Downs ridge in West Sussex, with stunning views out to the Solent. Uppark is a fine example of a family home built during the golden age of country-house construction in the 17th century, cherished by generationsof families and the survivor of turbulent events.Uppark forms part of a wider portfolio of properties including Hinton Ampner, Winchester City Mill and areas of countryside such as Ludshott and Selborne Commons. Whilst this role is based at Uppark, the Visitor Welcome team spreads across the whole portfolio,working hard to deliver the best possible service and experience to our visitors and the team work across the various sites as required.For more information, visit:uppark What youll be doing Day to day, youll find yourself with two hatshelping to lead our team of staff and volunteer welcome assistants and leading for a culture of excellent service for our visitors.Working closely with the Welcome Manger, you will be helping to look after our visitor welcome team with the aim of creating an inspiring and motivational place for them to work in. You will lead by example in everything you do and will provide regular feedbackto help the team with their personal development. You will be responsible for enabling our team to achieve stretching targets through setting clear objectives and ensuring everyone feels confident and capable in your asks of them.Your other hat will concentrate on providing the best possible experience for all our visitors. We want our visitors to feel as though we have opened our special place especially for them. This means you will lead for day-to-day presentation standards, ensuringour site always looks its best. You will deal with general enquiries from our visitors whether that be face to face, phone or email enquiries and will exercise judgement when dealing with any complaints to act and resolve it for our visitors there and then.With your experience in achieving targets, you will work to make sure we are maximising income to Uppark. You will take the lead on our Second-Hand Bookshop, which we hope will fundraise over £10,000 this year for projects such as the Restoration of theHistoric Path Network. Everything you do will be about growing support for our charitable cause.The role sits as part of the Duty Management rota at Uppark which ensures the safety of our visitors on a day-to-day basis.Please also read the full role profile, attached to this advert.
