Job Description

Job Title: Material HandlerLocation: PeterleeSalary / Benefits: £ 13.15 per hour, plus shift allowance on two shift rotation 25 days plus bank holidays, pension, health scheme, life insurance, EAP, Share option.Hours: 37 hours per weekWe are looking for a Material Handler for our world class dynamic company with a global reputation for excellence in the manufacture of large diameter anti-friction bearings, based in Peterlee. The job will also require coverage of stores and warehouse.Transporting and storing of product from various workstations, emptying skips, removal of waste, general housekeeping on shopfloor, stockyard and outside areas.Responsibilities for Material Handler:Load and unload incoming and outgoing products

  • Move materials to and from stockyard to manufacturing areas on the shopfloor
  • Control forgings from stockyard to factory including relevant documentation
  • Maintain stock levels and control machine coolants
  • Operate forklifts, cranes and pallet trucks
  • Cleaning of shopfloor area including walkways, aisles, assembly areas, washing floors and tidying of unused works areas.
  • Comply with all factory and warehouse safety rules and guidelines.
  • Warehouse - Prepare rings for dispatch, to include stacking, boxing, wrapping and corrosion protection. Ensure paperwork is complete and signed for. Ensure all goods are correctly labelled and stored correctly in appropriate areas.
  • Stores - Book out forgings, plugs, pins tools & inserts from stock using SAP. Ensure stores are kept clean and tidy and in an organised manner. Ensure goods received are put away in the correct storage locations.
    • Qualifications for Material Handler:
  • Minimum of Level 2 numeracy and literacy
  • 2 - 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing industry, experience in operating material handling equipment essential and moving large and heavy objects
  • Must hold current / valid certificate for both counterbalance and reach truck
  • Must be able to work well in a team
  • Ability to follow instructions, and work independently with little guidance
  • Ability to operate computers and relevant stores management systems, SAP desirable
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends
